I decided Tesoro is going to be multi-talented. .. so he needed to be
introduced to western apparel. I pulled out the big square western
pads and the big old western saddle, tossed them right up on him,
cinched it up, and that was that, lol. He kinda looked at me like he
was saying "well, what did you expect?".
My plans for him long term are to go hunter/jumper in english, and
also run barrels western (all assuming his stifle problem is fixed).
He is also letting me hop up and down next to him, wiggle the saddle
all over, pick up the stirrups and drop them so they flop on his
side, and put a little weight in the stirrup. I figure he's 2 now, so
we will start very light under saddle work over the next few months.
I want him riding by April so I can take him to the adoption here in
Asheville as a demo horse.
We also FINALLY got a small trim today on the hind feet. It was after
our workout, because he was feeling a little "good" today with the
nice weather and breeze, lol. I didn't take too much off, I was just
thrilled he let me hold his feet and nip/rasp them a little. He's
still having stifle problems on the left side, and it was hard for
him to hold that leg up for long periods of time. I've decided to go
ahead and do the stifle surgery on him, now I just need to schedule
it with the vet. I figure I'll work on his feet more over the next
week, then I'll post finished pics of his footsies.
Enjoy the pics! Sorry for the overload!
