Ok - well we went to another Trail Horse Competition Saturday and it was a lot more technical than the 1st one we went to, but I'm proud to announce that me and lakota came in 2nd - and guess who came in 1st - Yep, my boyfriend Shane I knew after beating him last year he'd bring it next time - but that's ok. I was very proud of him. It was very close - everyone is getting tired of see'ing us pull up because we are taking the prize's!! haha Lakota was wonderful - I'm the one that's the basket of nerves - and guess what - I got pictures this time YAY
This is me and Lakota backing thru 2 barrels that were very close together
This is us backing thru the "L"
This is the wall of shame - it was a tarp cut into pieces, which they had way too low and turned out to be a safety hazard so they told everyone they didn't have to go thru it but if they did, they would get 10 seconds knocked off there time, uh yep, me and lakota went right thru it - I had to duck and curl up, but we did it gracefully!
This is a long PVC pipe - you had to walk a full circle around, keeping the end of the pole on top of the barrel and had to keep your hand from going below the black tape
There were many more obstacles. At the begining you had to ground tie your horse in a box and run over to the fence and grab a saddle bag with a bottle of water in it, run back and mount. Go thru a gate and back in, there was a water box they had to get at least 3 feet in, we had to drag 2 bags full of cans down the arena and drop them in between some cones, they had a mailbox that you had to stop at and get the bottle of water out and drink it, then put it in the mailbox and close it up, they had some tires we had to walk thru, a tarp to walk over and a wagon wheel you had to walk thru without knocking any of the poles off (yep did that one great, these kigers know how to pick up there feet) then go over a bridge, run to the trailor, dismount, open trailor door, load your horse, grab the saddle bag, close the horse up and take off running for the finish line... we did all but the gate great, still haven't mastered that yet. You can only let go of it one time thru the whole process. There were many people from Atlanta asking questions about Lakota, its' funny when I tell them she's a mustang, they just say REALLY...It was a great day.
