I have met a man named George who lives in Alabama and is looking for a kiger mare 3-5 years of age but he's pretty open to whatever comes along. He's in no big hurry, he wants to find the perfect match for him and his wife. He owned a kiger when he was younger - circumstances arose where he had to sell her and now his dream is to find another one and he's finally ready. He owns and trains at a paso fino farm - Very nice guy. He prefer's a dun. Here's his story about his first kiger -
"may as well explain my interest in the Kiger. 1982 I adopted four horses from the BLM. One of these was a Buckskin filly from the Mountains of Oregon. That is one of the two horses I have really bonded with in my life. She was a two year old that I had problems with getting a halter on before I loaded her. I put her in a paddock by herself and did not leave food or water out. I was working nights at the time so I had plenty of daylight hours to spend with her. The first two days she would not come to me for food or water, the third day she figured out I was not such a bad guy after all. Every time I went to feed her I would just rub her all over. By the time she would greet me, I started brushing her, and rubbing a blanket on her. Next came the saddle and the bridle. Within two weeks I would saddle her while she ate and lean in the saddle. After a few days of this I actually got on her. She continued eating. Never bucked with me or my daughter, but did if anyone else went to ride her, and it took awhile to gt this out of her. Within a year she was roping, working wild cattle, and loading bad bulls. We even did a police demo for crowd control. She was not fast in a straight line, but put her in the woods, hilly country and she was just as fast. Never had hoof or health problems and was always ready and willing to work. In 1992 I was transferred to Miami and sold her to a frinds wife, who still owns her and daily tries to brush the hair off of her"
