Let me know, MichelleShe sent me back this: No, They are not titled but I contacted the BLM before I listed them and they wanted me to list them and adopt them out for them and then let them know who wants them and they would send the paperwork to them and when May come they will be titled. Thank youCan you belive it? The BLM letting someone else place these horses???!!! Times are tough. I do know at the Mustang Makeover in Fort Worth, they were giving them away.

Times are real tuff for some folks, I went and picked up my newspaper out of the box yesterday to this article staring at my face, on the front page page. www.bendbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081021/NEWS0107/810210445&SearchID=73333745938432I chat on another horse board a couple had some friends trailer their horses to a local horse park for a trail ride, on returning from their ride found two horses tied to their trailer with a note saying " these are good horses but we can no longer afford to feed them, please take them in" they now make it a habit to check the park once a week for abandoned horses. It does not surprise me that the BLM would rather let someone else find them a home, then take back the horses and have to feed/care for them while searching for new adopters. Nor does it surprise me there is a gray area and they are bending the rules.

I feel so bad for Trooper and all the other horses that have or will experience his fate but most of all I am angry at the animal activists that initiated the hault to horse slaughter without implamenting an alternative strategy. DON'T get me wrong, I am NOT saying we need to bring horse slaughter back, my point is that there should have been some alternative that would have allowed for the repercussions of this decision.
It's absolutely great to prevent horse slaughter but from what I have seen, these perfectly good horses have gone from being so cruely killed in a processing plant to slowly starving or being abused and abandoned. It broke my heart to think that Trooper had once had a loving home only to end up abandoned and abused. NO animal is disposable.....PERIOD!!!!
Perhaps it is time to start some sort of licensing for horse owners. I mean, afterall, they do it for dogs and cats. A record of shots and tags for horses might not be a bad way to go. It just might be a way to make people stop and think before buying that horse for themselves or a family member. Especially if there is a county or local animal shelter record on both the owner and horse. Maybe then when a horse is found, the owner can be traced and made to answer for it. JMO: Kelly

I've seen an occasional untitled horse listed on CL as well and it was well worded with the specification that there was an application to be filed. I've placed ads as well for the TIP horses.
Maybe this gal has a good reputation? Maybe the horses are gentled and its not going to matter much? Maybe they haven't got any volunteers to take the horse?
Heck, if she took the time to contact the BLM I'd think she was pretty responsible.
Then again, she could be lying...did you contact the BLM or just take her word for it?

Actually, this gal came by this summer and asked me to take them. She said she did not realize how expensive they were to train and feed and just could not due it...she had them in training down the street at a western barn - and they were having trouble with the filly I belive. She had the best intentions, but did not understand the commitment it took. I told her I had four untitled horses already and could not have more, per the BLM rules. I told her if she called them and got it okayed, I would take them. I did not hear from her again, until I saw this.
I did email her back and tell her if she did not find suitable homes, to give me a call. I will get title on the two Kigers here soon, so it will not be a problem. Like I said, she is a very nice gal, and I belive she is doing her best.

this is such a sad thing, yes were in a tight spot here also, but I would sell my rings and such to pay for my horses, I read about Trooper, and I hope they are able to find his owner and find out why, then throw his butt in jail...I am worried though that it is going to get allot worse before it gets better... nola
