I have had this idea for a while now, that I would like to go on a several day long ride along part of the Oregon Trail with my family. I have spent hours on line, trying to figure this out, and thought maybe one of you knows the answer. I found one ride, associated with the Pendleton Round Up committee (though not at the same time as the Round Up). It is a 5 day ride, out of Ukiah, but I was told that the route varries each year, and it doesn't necessarily follow the Oregon Trail. I thought there ought to be a state park in Oregon, or other public land, along the Trail, where other people ride horses. Do any of you know of a stretch of the Oregon Trail that is horse accessable? I have 5 kids, and the oldest ones are getting close to being gone away to college, and I hope to get this one last family experience in next summer, before they start to move on... I also hope we will all 7 be mounted on mustangs; need to get busy finishing the training on one of them.... Maybe if someone knows a good location, we could promote this as an event for the newly formed NW Mustang Club I am willing to help with getting information out, and taking in registrations, if we need them. Any ideas?

I started searching this out last year and was disappointed by lack of response by BCH in OR I contacted several chambers of commerce along the trail only to find most of it is now privately owned and fenced, making passing nearly impossible. If you can make headway, let me know because there's a small group of us who'd like to do this. However, when we hit a wall we decided on an alternate plan of riding the Steens Mt next summer, tentatively in August.
