Just thought it would be fun for people to share some of their Kiger related promotional/ competitive events. Our last large event was KY Horse Park in July. Our Kigers were featured in the Chattanooga and Knoxville Newspapers during the summer. A horse judging team with the Vocational Agriculture class from our local high school spent time at our place with the Kigers evaluating their conformation and movement. The clinic ended with a riding demonstration. We plan to attend a few holiday parades in the next few months. Getting back into a little TN Reining Horse Assn. & NRHA Reining is one of my goals for next summer. Ellen has already shared her shore to shore ride with us and Angelsdream, some of her recent activities.
Michelle, How was the horse expo? Promotional endeavors are always an interest to me and others. Did you get any good pictures? If so, please share. We always like to hear of Kigers out in the public eye. Melissa

Well, I hope to take Lakota to a Ranch Sorting this weekend. They have it every 2 weeks, hope to get in there and compete. It will be our first around cows, so we'll see how it goes. I have a HUGE parade this saturday and afterwards hoping to do the ranch sorting. Of course I'll post pictures - Im a big picture taker and love sharing my experiences with you guys.

Angel, The ranch sorting event will be a good opportunity to evaluate your mare's herding instinct toward cattle. Have a good time! Melissa

Not this weekend but next we are headed to the "Women and Horses" expo in Sedalia, Mo. (Kind of like Equine Affaire/Equifest) There our Midwest Mustang and Burro Saddle Club will be doing breed demos once a day...My daughter is riding her mustang mare, Kristi Billinger is riding her Kiger mare, and Kristi has convinced me to ride one of her other mustang mares....Plus we have 7 other mustangs and their riders....2 of them are EMM trainers (Cindy Branham and Diana Caldwell) and I'm trying to convince Diana to do some trick riding on her mustang....If anyone remembers the BLM postcard of the brunette gal hanging off the side of her brown mustang, that would be Diana! Also a gal from southern Mo will be there with her Kigers doing demos at a separate time....OH, and my daughter is riding her mare in her youth drill team which is doing exhibitions at the event as well....
Anybody get a wild hare to come check it out, look us up at the Midwest Mustang stable area! Hopefully I will have some pics to share of the event when we get back.....Just got to get thru this weekend and our 4H show first...
Angela
PS: Melissa I would love to see you all at KHP sometime...Please let me know when you'll be there next...Sounds like a good roadtrip!

I'll be Lakota does great! I know her sister and the rest of the Kigers used to push to cattle, even the bull, around all the time at the pasture. Heaven help the cattle if they were drinking and the horses were thirsty.

we have a benefit to go to this weekend, 25th, and Jim and I are thinking of taking Stormy to it, it is a roping benefit for a little 2 year old who has a rare heart defect, and the only surgeon who can operate on him is in Chicago...We won't rope, but we thought we should take her and see how she does around all that commotion, and talk about this breed... then we might not, we have not decided yet...
