Took some picts of Gringo and Pache playing today. Gringo is half Lusitano out of Sycha (Charro daughter), he is 17 months old and just under 15'. Pache turned three this spring...if you remember, he is the one that cut his neck open on the t-post this year.

I am curious is Gringo a stud prospect ? he is a very amazing looking 17 mth old. Is he Cremello or Perlino ? I noticed he has blue eyes, as well. I never can remember these things I am sure you have mentioned his color before. Do you limit his play time in the sun or does he usually wear something to protect his eyes ? Pache is looking very well and you can hardly see the mark left behind from the Tpost. He most certianly is not bothered by it. The playing pictures are great, it is neat to see such a contrast between light and dark. It would be interesting to see them photgraghed more together and in black and white.

OH what a beautiful Boston Match. In the carraige days they called a team that had one white horse and one black horse a Boston Match. If you had one it meant you were wealthy. They would make a beautiful team!

Huh! That's interesting Kevin, as that explains the "Boston Bull Terriers," and their coat pattern. Learn something new every day!

Yes, Gringo is a stallion prospect. He is just the sweetest thing, just so inocent and playful. Today he went along side the golf cart for the first time all the way down the long driveway like he has done it all his life.
I am not sure if he is a double dilute - two cream genes - or one cream gene with a pearl gene. His stripes are pretty noticable, especially the dorsal and his leg stripes mostly in the summer with short hair. His sire is red based, and Sycha is black based so we are not sure if he is red or black or even bay under there! I eventually will get him tested for red, agouti, cream, pearl and the dun to prove it on paper.
His skin is very greyish looking, not pink. Double dilutes (and pearls I would guess), have pigment so they do not sunburn at all. He can be out all day in the Texas sun with no problems. He does get squinty with those blue eyes so his pasture has alot of trees. I did not put a mask on him because I was afraid the other colt would just spend all day trying to pull it off. Up until three weeks ago, he has lived out 24/7, but the other colt (Nino) started getting too big for his britches and getting too pushy so I put him in with Pache - who set him straight! I did not want to ruin Gringos' mild temperment...now he goes out with Nino and Pache during the day and that seems to work real well. He loves being up in the barn at night with a nice big stall, fan and food to himself! I think he has already decided he wants to be one of my stallions!!
I did not think of black and white photos of those too - would be fun!
Boston Match huh....well, far from being wealthy - just horse poor! Black and white would make a striking driving pair!

I would not worry so much about his pale skin sunburning as I would his pale eyes just being sensitive to the sun. I only ask becaue we have a pale faced mare that has pale gold eyes. We have noticed her skin does not sunburn so much, but when we got her her eyes were inflamed and red on the inside due to light sensitivity. The previous owners said they could never keep a mask on her, we have no problem keeping a mask on her. Your most likely right that Gringo's pasture buddy would spend his time trying to help Gringo remove that funny face mask..LOL ;D Anyway, I think Gringo is a fabulous stud prospect even more so with your discription of his disposition. I will be interested to hear the results of his color test. As it is only an added bonus to what type of color producer he will be on mares. Have you decided which direction or discipline you take his training?

Shew... Those eyes would definitely be sensitive. I have blue eyes and always need sunglasses or atleast a hat to shade my eyes. He really is beautifully built, my favorite pics are the third and fourth. I like how he carries himself and am really impressed by his dispostion description. I look forward to following his progress!

Way cool photos Michelle! You did a great job. Gringo is definitely impressive! So the dad is a buckskin and has the champagne gene? I bet he is double dilute cream. Seems like the single cream and champagne are regular color but with a special sheen. Should throw some interesting colors!

Gringo has really turned out looking quite a bit like his sire! I can just envision him doing dressage and doing well at it! Nice pics!
