Have you contacted the KMA about this matter? They also have a web site and a message board for inquiries such as yours. Good luck you're gonna need it. Melissa

Kevin Sink, aka "Stormyranch" who frequents this board is the KMA President. Maybe he can help steer you in the right direction. Melissa

Who is it Dianne? I know there was a big delay when Shauna was registrar too.
To answer your question, ctxkiger, all of my horses are/were registered KMA. I like that they have a membership where you can have a voice. Just my opinion. Though, I do know that it sure isn't perfect but love that Kevin is president. He is a great person with a love for the breed.

Jason, since you have your email hidden on this forum, perhaps you can email me privately so I can help you? Yes, we did just have a changing of the guard so to speak, and your DNA kit should be sent to you soon if it hasn't already. Please contact me and I will halp you in whatever way I can.
Kelly, A year or more? I beg your pardon? Even when timing was at it's worst back in the early 90's, it took me 6 months way back then. That was Inexcusable. I have not heard of anyone waiting a year, unless perhaps of course thier horse didn't pass inspection, they didn't have thier paperwork properly in order, or they did not submit adequate photos for thier horse to be inspected by. All of these things happen, and more frequently than you'd think. then everyone is so quick to point fingers at KMA. Maybe if folks would contact KMA, respond to requests for better pics, and resolve the things that are needed and required for registration things would go more smoothly for everyone involved. Please do not start rumors that do not have all the facts behind them.
Melissa, I don't think he's gonna need good luck at all. We've got a pretty darned good group of dedicated people behind the scenes trying to accomodate timely registration. It states right on the registration application to expect it to take 90 days. I'm kinda offended by the implication in your response. Kim

I've heard from others that things don't always get done in a timely fashion with KMA, and I guess I'd tend to believe it since I experienced it first hand.

Kim ************************************************************************** Kim, Sorry you take offence to my comment, which is based from my previous registration experiences with the KMA. If your statement is true, then it's about time the KMA registration process has improved. Actually, it's long past due! I have horses to register with KMA, but choose not to do so at this time due to negative past experiences with the registration process of a few of my horses. This thread started by ctxkiger is proof that improvement is still needed.

Kim:
I apologize if I have ruffled any feathers. That was not my intention. I was only stating something I knew to be true. Why it took that long is unknown to me. Perhaps you are right and their paper work was not filled out properly. There are a number of reasons this could have occurred. They have now registered with the CKMR so I guess it is a moot point right now.

Our new Registrar is Pam Perdue, she took office at the end of August at Kigerfest. The switch from Shauna to Pam is now complete and it took place last week. All questions can be sent to Pam at the e-mail below. You can also find this information on our web site in the Community drop down box under registry. I agree that the registration process as been slow and we are trying to fix it. We do care about people getting there registrations in a timely manner. People do need to understand that all the requirements must be met before their papers can be issued. I understand many people are slow in returning hair samples for DNA, or sending in better pictures when asked.
I look forward to this next year as I believe things will get better!
