Well last week I started riding lessons and oh I am so excited about it. I had a wonderful 1st lesson and my 2nd lesson is tomorrow. I did learn alot from only my 1st session. Like many out there, Ive never had professional lessons, I was just put on a horse when I was young and said go. Ive never been shown the correct way. Well Im always trying to learn and improve my skills, so I finally decided to take lessons to improve my riding skills. I had gotten to where I was so unbalanced and didn't have a good seat which in turn makes it harder on the horse plus Lakota don't have the smoothest trot or gallop, so I looked really pretty bouncing around everywhere.
I believe what makes a good horse person is someone that is willing to say I need help and to try to improve there skills.

Oh wonderful I myself cherish the moments when I could afford to work under a trainer for a some lessons. Just to have someone with some knowledge watch you ride is so darn helpful. I am sure you will find it very rewarding and get your balance back to find your center again.

Cool! I have to admire anyone who takes lessons. I've never been what I considered a really good rider either and am happy to be learning more.

Congrats on your higher learning! Sandy and I have begun cutting horse lessons and it's a blast, although our trainer has told me the horse is smarter than I am...

Yes Im very excited to be learning a better seat. It really makes much more sense now. Right now Im working on toes in, heel down (which is awkward for me and will take time for my feet to realize its ok ) ha and holding my post up for some strides without the stirrups to help build my thigh muscles, and whew, Im sore. I was so excited last week because it all made so much sense to me that I wanted to go run jump on my horse and keep practicing. We went trail riding sunday and I practiced some

Training is still going. I had another lesson this past Saturday and it is just so wonderful. I can't believe I didn't do this earlier. I learn so much each time I go. I am taking Lakota now to each lesson, so not only am I learning how to ride better, I am learning how to ride her better so we can become partners and be more in sync. I am learning how to work off my leg now and stay out of there mouth, and for the first time ever, as I was practicing this evening, I got her to move off my leg many many times. I was so excited and it felt so good to not be in her mouth so much. It's mostly me learning how to do things correctly, she picks up on everything I ask pretty quick, which the trainer said also, so Im the one who has to change my riding habits.
I am entering her into a trail horse competition show the first of November, so am trying to prepare for that.

Had another lesson last night. Went WONDERFUL. I am learning so much. My brain is on cloud 9....
Just had to share, but my trainer said last night that rarely does she have a horse come in that she really likes, but she really likes Lakota. She said she has the biggest heart that once I gain her respect, she will go beyond the moon to please me and said she was very very smart. She is really picking up on things quickly. She is really doting on her, which I think is great. The more people I get to be around kiger's and they see how great they are, the more people will become kiger owners.

I am so glad to hear that you are still working and Lakota has joined you as well. It is good to get these updates and wonderful to know that out are spreading the Kiger virus.
