I hauled three horses off to the county fair this past week for a six day event where I spent a lot of time talking and gentling. It was great fun. All three horses were adopted, but the last one to go was Firecracker. I'd decided not to raffle her because she's still working on fear issues and I really wanted to be sure she ended up with someone who wanted her and could handle her. It took until Saturday afternoon to find her a home, even at $25! Both the geldings went before her at the full rate of $125.
All three horses are in great hands, though, and I couldn't be happier. The woman who took FC is the board president of the local border zone (Washington State Horsemen) club and has already gotten mustang halter classes approved for next year!

Joan said it right on. Its a huge sacrifice of time and expense to get these horse to the point that someone less experienced can take them and enjoy them. You deserve to be happy about the great lives they and their new owners will have because of you. Congratulations!

Oh so were your three, BLM mustangs or kigers? Kudos to you for finding great homes for them!

Thanks, all. It's very gratifying and I'm really hoping that we can do this more often and that others will pick this up as possible venues for micro adoptions. vtkiger, they were all BLM mustangs...one of which was a Kiger The other two were from Beatys Butte; a very striking red dun with blond highlights and a dark appy gelding who was built like a tank. The Northwest Horse Source folks happened by and took some pics of me working with Duns and put them online. nwhorsesource.livejournal.com/40636.html
