So my filly is now 10 weeks old. She has always been very happy to see me, always running up to me whenever i came out in her area, but now she is really stand -of- ish. She is hard to get close to to even give scratches to. So what i am woundering is, is this a common thing in thier development?

Dara, this is completely normal! Our guys go through this periodically and we never concern our selves with it. They always come back around and get sweet again. What you don't want to do is force yourself on her and figure her for being obstanent. This will change her opinion of your relationship and do more harm in the long run. Something you can do is spend more time focusing on the mare and ignoring the filly until she wants your attention again.
That is one of the hardest things to explain to folks when they come visit their young horses here - sometimes they fawn all over you, other times they walk the other way and completely ignore everyone! The good thing about here though, is that there are always a couple in the herd that are in a more "needy" stage, so they always have a crowd around no matter how their horse is acting!
