I received a note from my neice who is friends with Roger and Denise....she said Sundance has died I also saw that Betty posted the same information on the other board this afternoon after speaking to Roger. I still remember meeting Sundance. I was at my neices for the holiday and Roger was over. I wanted to see Sundance and he took me right over and pulled him out into the arena so I could see him in action. What an amazing boy. I am lucky to have one of his sons. I will treasure him now for sure. Fly across the fields and valleys at Rainbow Bridge big guy. When I hear thunder...I'll know it's you running through the meadows.

Oh my Gosh, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. What a beautiful fellow, I'm glad that at least he will carry on through his many children. Firefly being one of them. She has his beautiful head and his floating trot. I was hoping one day to meet Sundance. What did he die of??

I just got a call from Roger who wanted to let me know in person. I was deeply in love with Sundance and have been friends with the DeBaere's over many years now... Denise was my "Kiger mentor." I am heartbroken about Sundance, he was truly one of THE best representatives for the breed and I am so thankful that I own a little bit of his dna through my now gelding The Sundance Kid. I hope that someone in the KMA will think to honor Sundance for the years of service with a special award. He deserves it as he has brought many people to this breed, himself.

Joan, I agree that Sundance has made a major contribution to the breed, and is a grand example of what the breed standard should be. We are deeply touched by this loss and can hardly believe it has happened. Photos of Sundance make your jaw drop, he has so much presence. Having his legacy in our pastures makes us more aware of the measure of the loss. Devastating! I only hope Denise and Roger can find comfort in their grief knowing how much Sundance is admired and appreciated by so many. Linda D

Omg, Kiger Sundance was my favorite stallion! I have folders full of his pics saved on my computer... I had wanted to breed one of my Mustang mares to him a few years ago. How incredibly sad. What happened to him?

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. Sundance was really something. We did get to see Sundance in person when we stopped in at a Kigerfest in Madras in 2005. He really was a beautiful and special animal. My heart and condolences got out to Denise and Roger. Nancy Johnson

My first Kiger was a Sundance foal bought in utero because that's the only way I could get one. He was a grand horse and sold me on the breed. I'm so sorry for Roger and Denise!

I am so glad that this has been done! I am not able to access it however via the addy listed. I tear up every time I think about Sundance and the DeBaers. Linda D
