Hello all, Been a while since I've been on. The weather has been pretty descent down here, so Ive been able to ride and play with my boys a lot more. Maverick has learned a new trick. He's learned how to untie himself. He was tied up Friday evening and I looked up and he was walking around the barn, so of course I thought I didn't tie him well enough, so I tied him back up and watched him and he gets his teeth and pulls the knot and then pushes it up and down and keeps pullin his head back to test it until he's untied. SO FUNNY but so smart. His mind is always going....

That is so funny my geldings have always been real good at untying themselves. They also untie others as well, they do have working minds. Funny the mares and fillies never seem to pick up on this trick. I guess it keeps your mind working as well on new and ingenious methods of, how to tie a horse so he can not untie the knot... ;D

Funny the things they pick up or try out! I had a mustang/QH cross mare that would take her rope halters off when she was tied. She would rub the knot and work at it for a long time until it slipped right off! Don't know how she ever figured that one out...

my kiger mare was standing tied waiting her turn for the farrier and there was a dog collar that was tied to the stall door. she played and worked it until I heard it hit the concrete. I looked up and saw her licking and chewing her lips. Then she started in on her lead rope. She's so smart, I had to chuckle. ( She did untie her self twice that day waiting to be reshoed)

My mare Springtime has no trouble untying herself, and always checks the gates to make sure they are latched properly. Linda D

A friend owns Sassy and she had to have a caribiner and then finally a padlock for her gate. She would turn the faucet off and on too.
