Too cute! That last picture should be entered in some contests! She looks a lot like Santana and Oso at this age, and they both have dorsals. I'm thinking this the sooty gene on dun. Gin is going to send a picture of Santana's dorsal and I'll share it. Rick once said that the darker bays have dorsals but the red bays, like Cricket, do not.

Thanks everyone! It was another day of water fun with her. She was so nosey when i was giving my other mustang a bath, as you can see she was not happy about her bath. Master of gold, cool. I think mabey we will try to fit that in her name. We had been thinking about Little Shoshone Rose, but we are still not sure.

Ok- well she is really shedding on her legs and face now and i am thinking she will stay her bay color, but she looks like she has black legs. The black seems to go all the way up past hocks and her knees in front. As for a dorsal it looks like it will be there but not sure, at birth it was a light brown and kind of faded away a few weeks ago. I will post pics as soon as i can get some good pics of the shedding, i may wait a few weeks so to get a better idea.

well she is officialy mine! my mom gave her to me the other day! It kind of changes things knowing she is mine now, i ts so cool that all my work with her is for me now! I hate to say it but i still havent named her I tried Mesa but at the time mom dident like it and now it dosent seem to fit. Ideas.... Little Apache rose....nacoma... I like your ideas of chili but dont know how to fit it in. I also would like to pick a name that is original and not already one of your horses names i would feel like i was stealing. anyway i dont know.. i guess i am making it to hard. I just need to pick a name! I am just glad i get to see her grow up and i wont have to sell her

Congrats on finally getting her officially...She's quite a doll....With her mom and dad, she ought to be one gorgeous mare when she grows up....I love the chili pepper idea.....That star did look like a chili pepper....Good luck with the name thing, I always had problems with it!

Congratulations!!! Nacoma has a nice sound to it, and she sounds like a chili pepper. Its hard to find something truly unique so just add something or change the spelling so the registered name is different and call her what you want.

I just have so much fun with this little girl! i have now come out a few times with her while she is laying down and sat with her she dosent seem to mind one bit. The other day she let me pick up her head and lay it on my leg while she slept! i forgot how heavy dead weight is!..lol. then after my leg went to sleep too i put her head back down and i got up and walked all around her, inspected her feet, and scrached her. she didnt mind. She is leading really good seems to learn real quick still getting out of the fence though She gets quite pushy with her grain or if she thinks i have it in the bucket, so we have had a few attitude ajustments they dont really seem to fase her though. I have biult her a creep feeder so she can eat her grain by her self and i dont have to stand gaurd and she can have her own hay too.
