Leza is officially due this month on the 21st, but she surely is not going to make it! She appears to be ready and we are hoping tonight is the night...her "milk" is thick yellow and she had wax at 3am. If she follows her pattern from last year, her ph will drop tonight - her calcium is already high and her temp has been dropping for the past 32 hours.
This will be a half sibling to Sage's colt, Hawk...

Leza FINALLY had a huge filly (yes, FILLY!!!) this morning at 6:15. She is very tall, very sweet and piaffes in place while she nurses! I can't wait to get her out tomarrow and watch her move! Being as she spent the morning dancing around the stall, she has picked her own name: Cha Cha A few quick ones:

I love it, Cha Cha! She is gorgeous! Well I guess Sage's colt, Bayo Halconero , will have to be your breeding Stallion! He is a very nice colt!

Wonderful filly, and what an appropriate name! You got one of each, you are so blessed. I love her angles and the picture of her peaking under mom.

Dianne, what color do you think she will be? I am guessing very dark grulla, but the other two I had that are that color were born grullo looking with very dark points - she has grulla points and is black as night everywhere else! Maybe she is just showing different...will be fun to see!
Anyone else like to offer an opinion??

Gotta love the name. My gelding Louie was born black, but is technically a very dark grullo, like Dianne's Chinny. Does ChaCha have fawn coloring inside her ears? Louie did right away, and also a dorsal, although it is usually extremely difficult to see.

Yes, she has fawn colored ears. I have had two dark foals before, I was not there when Loba was born and I really don't remember the details too much, but she was black. Pache was born grullo, then turned dark when he shed out. ChaCha is black on her top side, most of her hair looks charcoal colored but her eyes, muzzle, flanks, underside, between her back legs, top of tail and bottom of tail are grulla...kind of opposite of what I would think. I am sure she will shed out very black looking...

Beautiful, just beautiful. This girl is made to move.
So you are keeping this one to cross with Charro aren't you? that will give you a great grulla.

Wow, I like this one! I'm a sucker for the blacks but it wouldn't matter what the color! Perfect name. I agree you sure have a wonderful lot of foals! Linda D
