Having a back up plan is a lesson I have REALLy learned this past week. 1. Have a plan for exteme weather. In some areas of the country this would be drought, extreme heat or rain, fires, etc. In my case it was the ice and cold. This caused a problem when Topic coliced last week. I now have an agreement with Velvet to bring any of my horses to her farm if we have weather issues and one of my horses needs care. She instructed me to bring them right over, even if I cannot contact her. (She really is a wonderful person!!!!) 2. Have a back up plan when hauling your horse. Things may go wrong. There is a service for horses (similar to triple A). Them will help if your rig breaks down on the road. Saturday my sister was stranded on a local road for 1 1/2 hours before my mom thoguht to call me for help. She had been run off an icy road by another vehicle while pulling her trailer. She had her 6yo daughter with her, and a horse in the back that was very apprehensive of trailers. Why she did not call me sooner I'll never know. Whe called everyone else she could think of, but nobody was able to help. This is the second time she has been stranded in the last 6 months while pulling a horse trailer. Thankfully for her I was only 45 minutes away, and we were able to load her horse in my rig. It was a tight fit as the horse was a 17H off the track TB. ;D He was such an angel though I wanted to take him home. Never thought I would say that again about any horse other than a Kiger!

Oh NO! I know that's an awful feeling, even not hauling horse's, when you break down, you feel helpless. A few years back we were hauling to an arena to ride and the truck broke down, luckily we were only a few miles from the arena, someone came by that new us, so we hopped on there tail gate with the horse's running behind us!! Quiet a show

You are so right we should all have some sort of back up plan or buddy plan. A so called a escape route mapped out should we get in trouble. Preplanned buddy to back us up in a pinch.
