I understand as long as there are a few letters right in the word our minds are very fast at sorting the word. The reason why is that when we read we don't look at each letter in the word, we scan it and our mind finishes off the word. If we tried to read each letter, we would read at an extremely slow pace Our minds will also fill in the spaces in pictures. Sometimes that's helpful and sometimes not. If you are describing something to the police, you run the risk of adding things that weren't there because your mind added them in for you. Our minds are very interesting things. I don't think our doctors and scientists have any idea of how intricate our minds really are.
