Okay...give me a BREAK!! They are actually advertised as "Bike Handle Reins"! made by an Olympic Rider (hey, they must work!). Says they will get your horse round....me thinks the only thing it will do is help you pull on your poor horse more! Should go in the same garage box as the retractable lunge line (like folks have for thier dogs)!

Oh lordy...if you can't keep a grip on your reins so you need handles seems like you have other issues. Seems like a cheat to me...you are only cheating yourself by making it easier for the rider. What I mean by a cheat is most gadgets are made to make things easy for the rider to get things accomplished quicker, like making your horse more round in a turn or more collected. They do sometimes work for a brief period. But if you you do not cheat (use some gadget) take your time to train your horse to be soft and give, use his hind quarters become more collected and round in his turns it will take longer but he will be consistant and you will be a better horseman because of the lessons learned in the proccess.

Great points Tiffany! You can always tell when someone has not put the time in to gymnasticize thier horse...they do not look symetrical and usually are overbent, broke at the third vertabrae and the back is hollow. I also love when folks say they want thier horse to move more "natural"...natural to a horse is on the forehand with the back dropped, the neck up and the hindend out behind!! Natural for them to move that way, but not a good position to carry a rider and be balanced and sound! A horse needs to be taught those lessons! Of course, some tend to be more round than others - like the Spanish Horses...

That is a very good point Michelle naturally my horse would have it's head in air looking about never follow a straight line and as you mention carrying most their weight on the front end. That is why the majority soundness issues will develope on the front end. It is a 50/50 partnership a horse needs to be taught to use it's whole body to balance a rider so it does not break down and a rider needs to ride balanced so as not to break down their horse. Something my horses and I are always working on.

man for one I could not hold on to the handles and I would be pulled to far forward just to hold them, in the end looks to me like the horse is to tight, and would rebel shortly and then their could be a train wreck, looks so unnatural.
