This is the time of year when the coming 2 yr. old fillies move from the broodmare pasture to the "wild bunch"! First they move to an acclimation pasture for about a week. Over 9 acres, very hilly and has a wet weather creek through it. They have to come up a very steep grade to get to the water and to get fed; so they start to get in shape to go out onto the 75 acres for the next 8-10 months. They share two sides with the wild bunch and get familiar with thier new herd mates over the fence: two Nevada mustang mares, a 2 yr. old mamoth donkey and a paso fino mare. Riena will also go back out for the summer, even though she is coming three this year, the Lusitano crosses seem to mature later mentally. Vistosa (lusoX), Solana, Amada (QHXs) and Tasa (Kiger):

Tasa is Charro and Sage (the Riddle mare I should have traded you w/Leza!). This year she is bred to Hipo (lusitano). Oh, sorry I have not gotten back to you on the other subject - just forgot until now! Go ahead and do whatever you like, let me know if I need to send you some $$.

Oh dear! Crazy girls! I LOVE the pic of Amada! Her markings are just beautiful! So you aren't planning on breeding Reina this year? Are we not even going to start her? Now you need to get some pictures of the upcoming yearlings... I'm anxious to see how they have changed!

Great shots Michelle! you really caught them in some wonderful action. That Tasa is a knock out. Funny how we all have different favorites. What do you mean by mature later mentally? Prairie is that way I think, short attention span and tends to take a mental vacation to somewhere else.

Yes, Reina has short attention span, gets overly anxious and scattered...not much focus! She'll be better come fall.
EM, this summer we got to get Pache going, put hours on Baila and Diva (want to take Diva to Nationals in Oct.). Looked at the Pasos' papers yesterday...Contora is 12 this year, so it's either a major project or not worth it!! Lets' see...the two Nevada mustangs, Nesa, Brioso may have a new home, so he needs a solid tune up and lots of trail riding. Anyone else?!?!
The yearlings are looking quite rangey this time of year! Once they shed out they should look a little better and take better picts!

Oh goodness, we will still deffinately be busy!
I need to call you so we can chat about this summer, I just got home from state HOSA and I competed in Veterinary Assisting. Brought home first and made it to nationals in Dallas! Nationals will be June 22-28th. So I will have to take a break from the horses to go do my vet thing for a little while! I'm so excited though! I worked so hard for it! ;D

No... but I did get to do doggy CPR!! And I have tons of fun and gross stories from shadowing at the vet! I will tell you all about them over the summer I'm sure. Oh, and I noticed Lakota wasn't on the "to do" list... should I be worried? You know I will cry if I don't get to play with him at least a little this summer right?
