Here are a couple pictures of the snow we have this year... it's been a long time since we've had this much snow on the ground -- the first picture is of 3 of our 7 horses - 1 full Kiger and 2 part kigers - they are waiting for breakfast. This next picture is just a shot up our driveway -- the fence posts (railroad ties) you see stand 6 feet above ground -- you can see how deep the snow is on them!! Yikes -- I'm ready for spring!

Aw -- come on guys -- where's your spirit of adventure!!! Hahahaha -- the way it's going - we aren't going to be able to get in the high country with the horses until late into July!!! I'm sure we'll have snow left in May... kind of glad I don't have any mares that are with foal this year!!

Wow Nancy! I thought we had a lot of snow. It has been way more than normal here too... currently have a foot and a half and counting. It is snowing cats and dogs today...surprised my power hasn't gone out yet! My "other Mom" in La Clede said that they've just been moving snow with their tractor all winter... lots and lots of snow. They live a ways back in a canyon and up across the street from the P.O. there in town. Probably quite a bit of elevation difference at her place.

I'm spoiled, if I see even a couple inches of snow on my lawn I am out there with a hose washing it down. Don't get much snow in the Vegas Valley.

snow is a blessing if it wet, we here in AZ are in a drought and need the snow and rain. one day soon that will be me again in the high country. But to tell the truth I can not wait, to get out of the city and on my own land again. if it means dealing with the snow then so be it.

Ick. I don't do snow; although, your's is a dry snow, right??? Thankfully we didn't get much this winter. It's been cold for a long time, though, so the ground is still frozen even though the snow is slowly melting; makes for a slick, sloppy mess. The manure is thawing along with the snow and melting into a stinky green puddle out with the horses. I broke three tines off the apple picker trying to clean it up and finally gave up.

Our snow is weird -- it can be dry.... but sometimes its real wet and heavy. When I walk down my driveway now -- I can't even see over the berm of snow I'm almost getting clostrophobic!! LOL! I came home from work today at noon and helped my hubby shovel off the roof of the house - we had almost 3 feet of snow! He has shoveled it off once already. We picked up about 8 - 9 inches last night.. and they are callling for about 3 more tonight. Then another round this weekend. I know our Bonner County commissioners have called a state of emergency as well as the county commissioners in neighboring Kootenai County - It's been a pretty interesting winter.. I am trying to stay positive....but it's almost too much!!!

Love the first picture! Great barn! I remember once in Chicago when we had a big snow storm and they came to plow - pushed all the snow up against the fencing and the horses just walked right over! They thought it was too much fun to be chased around the neighborhood - brats!
The coming two year old stud colts, Rico and Caz, got out tonight and had Big Fun running around and making a big deal over the girls! They got out a few months ago and I just wrote it off to the gate not being closed well enough. But I fed this morning, and I know the gate was shut right. Rico must be following in big bros' hoofprints, as Rev can open just about anything. The gate is chained with one of the mountain climbing hooks that it takes humans two hands to open! Don't know how they do it...we got them into a roundpen and they preceeded to play fight for 15 mintues before they settled down and let us catch them. Funny because they ran up to the pasture where there are three young mares who are big hussies and never leave me alone when I have one of the stallions around. However, they quickly decided these two were not "man" enough and left for the far end of the pasture!

OH MY and I thought I had snow ...you got serious snow there and I am ready for my snow to me gone. We had a bit of a melt down today just in time for a bunch more snow to arrive in the afternoon. Beautiful picture though, thanks for sharing.
