I thought we should have some pictures of Steens Mtn for those who haven't been there. Here is one from the Kiger HMA, down on Mesteno Flats, taken Oct. 4, 2005. There was fresh snow on the mountain and clouds were moving fast, the wind was blowing and it was cold! The opposite edge of Kiger Gorge can be seen to the left of the bright spot in about the middle. Its very sheer and deep, no fence needed for most of this side of the HMA. God's Country. It is hard to believe we bring these creatures in from there and expect them to live in paddocks, stalls and "small green pastures", mind boggeling the changes they are required to adapt to
