Some where in one of the old threads I read about someone having "brown" babies. When calling them brown are they still with dun features? Are there still dorsal stripes under there? What differentiates them from bay?

Brown is now a color that can be tested for. It's an "incomplete bay" color so the horse is not as light as a bay. They found it when looking for the pangarre gene. It can be confused with smokey black or sooty grulla, but will test positive for the At agouti gene, where those will not. What I look for to tell if a Kiger is brown is a golden muzzle. Sooty grulla will have a lighter muzzle, but not golden color and smokey black isn't found in Kigers. Here is description: www.horse-genetics.com/brown-horses.html
