Just a little thread to post images of Dusk, adopted as a weanling at the 2011 Auction, rather than continue to spam the Auction thread. I'd have put the photos on the thread for yearlings from 2011 foals, but I figured that was for BICs! June 2012: 1: (I'm ignoring you. Really, I am. See, I'm not looking.) 2: (You're actually serious about me not coming over there?!) 3: (Well, fine then. I didn't want to anyway.) 4: (Are you really, really sure...? Maybe just one step at a time?) 5: (You're no fun at all. You know that, right?) 6: (No. Fun. At. All. And I'm ignoring you. Really.)

Thank you! She got her mane and tail combed out just for picture-taking. Then the wind had its way with things... and as soon as I left, she had a nice roll to get weeds all over in both. Then she was happy. *Sigh.*

She is very pretty, in the third picture she even looks to be smiling, happy with her new home

She's a very happy filly right now, so she might very well be smiling! Though she wasn't too happy yesterday... we had a sudden break from the 90+ temperatures. It snowed. She was distinctly put out by that, and wouldn't come out of her nice dry stall unless I was out there - then she was glued to my shoulder!

Here's a question for the board in regards to Dusk. To me, she seems unusually... well, chunky for a yearling - however, most of the yearlings I've been around have been Arab and Thoroughbred stock. In consideration to Kigers being generally 'easy keepers', I've been working on trying to keep her from getting too fat at such a young age... how would you rate her condition, going by the above pictures?
She's such a short girl. I haven't been able to find any stores around here that have ever heard of a hand stick, let alone actually carry them, so my measurements are a bit iffy - but I currently tape her at about thirteen hands to the withers, thirteen two at the butt.

She looks good to me. Frodo is a year old as well if you would like to compare him to her. I had a short yearling fully a few years ago who was a bit chunkier than Dusk. You ust don't want them too heavy but they need some fluf. Imo

I think she looks pretty good too. Yearlings go thru changes so fast...butt high one day fat looking the next then all the sudden ribby as they go thru a growth spurt...then WOW and then ICK LOL I've heard a good rule of thumb is don't want to See the ribs prominately but if you can feel them is good.

I've heard and read that being able to see the ribs is good... but Dusk really doesn't seem to have the thin-fleshed build that would make ribs prominent. Thank you for the responses! Hopefully she'll hit one of those growth spurts soon. She's already trimming up a little, I think, with more room to run in. I woke up at five this morning (on my day off) to the sound of her galloping - the weather took another break from swelteringly hot and turned downright chilly overnight. All of the horses in the area were kicking it up!

Room to run will help. But she is young and will be growing up and out for a while. The filly I sold was fat as a yearlings ou couldn't make out the space in front of her hip. So dusk looks great to me.
