Argh!!!! I just got an email from Tyee's owner that she moved to California for work and left him behind because she hadn't paid her board. There is a lein on him and I'm trying to figure out how much they need before he goes to auction THIS Thursday. I swear! Makes me want to strangle people. Tyee was Grand Champion Kiger Stallion last year at Kigerfest.

We need to contact the barn owner because they won't make back board at any auction. Please find out how much...

Found him after about 20 phone calls, the barn owner was very reasonable. I've got a huge check in the mail for his back board for 9 months. She left 14 horses there and took 7 others to Grass Valley where they are now several months behind. I get clear title and she is not getting him back. The 14 in Nevada have other boarders taking them on so they won't go to Fallon auction. I have a place for him at a nearby training stable where he will have turnout (none for nine months) and he can stay there until I find another home for him.

I am so glad to hear you got him out of that situation. I wish you the best of luck finding him a new home.

Grass Valley, Nevada? That's where I live... I'm glad that others are taking those horses, though. Otherwise I'd have to try and come up with a way to try and help at least one of them, and I just managed to find another job after getting downsized out of the one I had. I'm very glad you were able to get Tyee!
Edit - so, I looked up Grass Valley, and had no idea that there was a Grass Valley city, Nevada county, California. The Grass Valley that I live in is actually in Nevada State. Heh.

I have so much respect for the breeders on this board. Dianne, you didn't even hesitate to take this horse back. He is gorgeous, but it is still a huge responsibility. I know this hasn't always been the case with the Kigers, so I am very glad to see such responsible breeders, and also see that the rest of us were ready to jump in and save a horse. It makes me proud to have joined the kiger family!

Dianne, do you have pictures to post of him? I too think it is awesome to have breeders like you guys it makes a world of difference for the horse. I know Michelle had to take back a couple of her grown baby's too and that's awesome to be so responsible for what you bring into this world.

It doesn't make my non-horsey husband too happy! But he'll get over it. Still working out some details but he's safe. Whew!
