"At Classicus Farm we teach the principles of Classical Dressage with a focus on lightness in the French tradition."
This type of training is really appealing to me. To get your horse to carry him/herself correctly and collect without having them lean into the bit. I would sure like to have someone in my area help me with this.
I have taken lessons with a classical dressage trainer and she describes the leaning into the bit as "holding hands with your horse". I can't do that for long distances and Ruger thinks of it as "Restricting my Face"...he doesn't need or want to hold my hand.
Anybody else use the "French tradition" in dressage?

I was taught this when we were training Chinook. Its very different! But totally enjoyable. Beth Holdhusen has Chinook now and could teach you if you asked her. Its more of a feel of their mouth, with small circles in or out of the leading rein to move the forequarters and hindquarters. The legs are draped around the horse rather than gripping or pushing. You're in Oregon aren't you?

The site above has Linda's book "Alchemy" which is due out in June. I think it will be a very interesting read.
