Great news, the Kiger breed is getting national attention on Wed.April 18th 2012 Rowland Cheney is in Nashville to do a one hour interview with Lizzie Iwerson on the Kigers. On Dish network it is channel 232 at 3:00 p.m. eastern which is noon in California. The KMA put together about 20 minutes of video and pictures. I just watched the interview with Rowland Cheney about the Kiger Mustangs. Lizzie showed video and pictures and asked questions of Rowland about our magnificent horses. Did anyone else view the show? I recorded it just in case.

Watching Cougar work those Mustangs in the corrals was so cool, I had never seen that video before.

Thank you for the link! I greatly enjoyed watching it - though I was a little surprised to learn that Dusk didn't really come from the Kiger HMA, since she doesn't show dun factor. They did seem to be saying that all Kigers automatically have factor - and that if they don't, they're not a Kiger. I found it rather amusing!

If you have dun factor, then you will always have the base coat color as well I loved seeing Cougar! I always wondered if someone ever got video of him working and am glad to see they have footage of what Bobby first saw of him. I was surprised to see 3 of my pictures in the slideshow. If they had asked me ahead of time, I would have let them use some of the "dry" working kiger photos I took of other kigers in the KMA. I love Pinie's demos on Cuba and Ruby, but also have photos of the kigers back East. Photos in video:

*Chuckle.* She doesn't have the base color, either - she's a bay off of Riddle, out of a silver grulla that was released back out onto the range. Understand - I'm not arguing the point. I think of dun when I think of Kigers, myself. I just found it amusing that they gave the impression that all horses that come off the Kiger ranges are guaranteed to be dun.

Sara,
Your pictures are always great, you have such a good eye. Perhaps you could help us on the next project. Most of what I used were from our members. The clip on Cougar was from Bobby. Segment #1 was the KMA demo, segment #2 provided by Burns BLM. I told Lizzie if she did a good job for us we would give her a Kiger, she is looking at Rolex son of Kiger Rex. Most of her studio staff in Nashville said if they ever get a horse it would be a Kiger. Rowland was pumped up for this, even bought a new hat.

Ralf, Tara contacted us about using clips from the dozens of hours of footage and hundreds of stills we have shot over the past 5 years on the Kiger and Riddle HMAs, and then we never herad from you so if you would like us to provide anything we area always willing to help promote Kigers. We decided at the November afoption to film one more season before going into editing and production so we will be filming on the HMAs as well as setting up plans to interview and film a few privately owned Kigers and thier owners. We want to show the versatility and pleasures of owning a Kiger. There are Regalo, Savannah, Dino on the West Coast who would show the variety, and Rick said we can do horses further east if owners are willing to shoot thier own video clips and send them to us for inclusion. If you have other suggestions let us know. We also thought of the Swedish Kigers. If I got to make choices on horses to include the video would be 10 hours long. but if anyone wants a little exposure and to be included let uk know.

If you could, I would highly recommend getting in contact with the Ivey's back east and get footage of what they are doing. They are going places with their kigers! Sombra, Reed, Judy Yancey's Warrior and a couple others are back east. Thanks Ralf I am glad that the people involved are really excited about the kiger mustangs.

I am just thrilled to see the Kiger Mustang represented for the public to view. Every article and program gets folks curious and asking questions. We as owners and breeders can fill in the blanks for inquiring minds

Bobbe,
The KMA has other things in the works. Soon we will be working on the storyboards. I will be in touch and thank you for the offer. I was very limited as to the time with Rural TV and had a number of clips that I could not use like a 4 minute clip with the president of Breyer with Rowland overlooking the Kiger Gorge talking about the Kiger Messenger Series that Rowland designed.
