Hi Everybody, We are getting organized now in Sweden. Sweden is the biggest Kiger Country outside U.S. and Canada. After the foals that will arrive this spring, and Jessica and Fredrik's adopted horses arrive this coming fall, we will reach almost forty horses here. I have written mails to many of you during these past ten years, since I bought my first mares from Denny McDonald in Virginia. I recognize many of his mares at other farms and your home pages, Calista, Shilo, Sycha et. z. It was an honor to visit the auction last fall in Burns, and a pleasure to meet many of you. But I knew almost none of you by face, only by name, so you may excuse me that I didn't know who you were when we introduced. Maybe we should all be better in showing ourselves also on our home pages, not only our lovely horses!? ;o) The organization that we have created here is called (if i translate) Swedish Kiger and Mustang association. Short SKIM. www.skim.nuUnfortunately we don't have the home page in english yet, and I can not promise when, but we will have it translated in the future. (We have about 2/3 of the horses here are registered in SMKR and the rest in KMA.) However, we try to find out as much as possible about our horses, and possibly have photos of them as foals, and their Sire's and Dam's. So, I'm interrested in anyone who have any information on my own mares. The first three that came to Sweden. They are: In Good Faith, DOB 2000 SMKR#: MSMC 0577 Sire: Silverado Dam: Riccaros Estrella Kiger Cookies N Creame, DOB 1999 SMKR#: MSMC 0336 Sire: Kiger don Sombre Dam: Sundown Synister, DOB 1998 SMKR#: MSMC 0420 Sire: Geronimo Dam: Dallas I know that Geronimo is at Rancho Bayo, and Silverado with Rick. I've heard that Kiger don Sombre is gelded, but I have no good photos of him. And then of course, photos of the Dam's Attaching photo of Synister. It was only possible to attach one photo. I'll show the other two later on. Best regards, Tomas Lindén Sweden Attachments:

Thanks, Yes, the photo of Synister is two or three years old. She was very well ridden at the time and had every muscle she should have. Now she's in foal, and doesn't have that athletic shape. But just day's from now we'll see that foal. I'll be back with photos.

This is exciting I am glad to hear that there are so many kigers over in Sweden. Will you eventually be doing kiger expos over there?

It is so great to see the kiger breed expanding to other nations! It's so cool to know one of Charro's offspring is in Europe and boy does she resemble him! Do you have any pictures of the dam?

sbutter: yes, I've shown the horses here for some years now, but very locally of course. But since three years we are spread from north to south in our long country, so we will definitely have our breakthrough soon. grullagirl: Yes, I love to hear that she looks like Charro, at least a bit. I'm informed that Pamela Glass owned the horses at that time, and of course I would like to know more about the mare Dallas. I know nothing about her, no pictures. Sending my second mare Cookies N Creme. That photo is also taken two foals ago. But "Cookie" have her rest this summer (I usually let them have foals every second year, so that they can shape up between). The foal from Synister this spring will be the eleventh foal of mine, and Synisters fourth. Attachments:

I love the picture on the homepage of the site with the grulla mare jumping. Is that Synister or Cookie? It's nice to see mares that are out in the public's eye too instead of just the boys. Do you have an idea of how many available stallions there are to breed to over there? I know we created a thread on this board of stallions that are at stud and it would be good to be able to include stallions over seas and what bloodlines are being used over there.

Yes, It's a good picture. It's Synister on the SKIM homepage, jumping about a meter or so. The mares are so dedicated. Putting my last mare, "In Good Faith" in this comment. Yes, I have two pictures of Silverado, not extremely good though, so I'm interested in all I can get, thank you. We have only two stallions in service here now, I'm afraid. El Morzillo (my first foal here, after Lord Blackstone) tragically died just two weeks ago. No reason known. But there was no signs of struggle in his stable box, he seems to have just quietly died. That was the day after his nine years birthday. I sold him to northern Sweden two years ago. I miss him, he was special to me. He was black like his father, and with the kindest personality. I have my Stone Dust, "Dusty" (also after Lord Blackstone). His dam is Lucky Lady. He is a full brother to Karen Clark's "Mystic". You can see him on you tube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOy5mSAQ0IwAnna Karlberg has the other stallion, "Durango". I think he came from Springwater station. Attachments:

Wow, 40 horses and only 2 stallions? Are there a lot of geldings? From what you know, do people tend to have several of their own kigers over there or are there a lot of people with only one kiger? Just wondering if it is easy for you to keep track of where all of them are going.

Well, we basically import mares in foal and so far there has been eight mares imported. For the number of forty (38 it should be, but it sounds better with 40! you must include the three horses that are still in Oregon, coming to Sweden late this fall (12 months after adoption). But, yes we will suffer from the lack of stallions. In the future I'll definitely be interesting to import semen.

You've got some nice looking Kigers! I never knew there were so many in Sweden. How do they handle the winters? Do you get much snow in your part of The country?

Dianne, I checked up weather/temperature differences when I bought the first ones from Denny McDonald while he lived in Leesburg, VA. Basically we have the same climate. But I live very far south in Sweden, the winter is much more cold and longer the more north you go. So, the ones that are in that part of the country have a LONG, DARK and COLD winter. BUT much snow, and DRY since the temperature is always bellow zero (C°). Here is many times wet-wet-wet, so I'd say the horses do better up north in the cold in fact. The Kigers are so hardy, Denny kept them in shelters only, I have both stable boxes but also shelters. They are doing just fine.

Thanks, having been out on the HMA where they are from I figured they would do well. The HMA is about 5,000 feet and is cold and fairly dry. Big swings in temperature can occur there, but it is not wet, wet, wet like you describe and that we also have here in the northwest.

We have been filming the Kigers on the two Oregon HMAs for about 5 years. We have much more footage of the Kiger HMA than the Riddle. If you want to send me a private message with the adoption numbers of your Kigers I will go through the footage and see what I can find for you. We can pull stills from the video. I also have quite a few stills taken over the years. We were at the adoption and have footage of the gather, the temporary holding pens and of the horses being unloaded at the BLM corrals.
We would be happy to share with you.
The same thing goes for any others who adopted. We found pics of Ronnie Kiger Mustang and Ruger for thier new owners.

DianneC, yes, Denny McDonlad moved back to Washington state after they sold Tahlmorra farm. He's from there, and he told me about the climate there. How far northwest are you located in Wa? Prizmbluekigers, thanks. Well I didn't adopt this time, but our friends Jessica and Fredrik did. One two-year-old mare and a filly. I'm sure they would be happy to have pictures of their horses from the wild or the gather. I've checked a photo from the auction and I'm sure the filly is 1179 and the two-year-old is 1174. But I could not find your e-mail address in your profile, it was hidden. Please send it and I'll send you photos of both the horses. I'll send you photos of both. Thank you very much!
