Bugs!?!

So....this has come to mind several times and I just wanted to get anyone elses thought on the subject if you dare lol. As we all know bugs contain more protein per ounce than red meat or to my knowledge anything else. Horses while grazing do consume bugs...but what percentage? I know horses do not seek out bugs but in a days worth of grazing how many do they eat. I bring this up because while watching my stallion out in his pasture eating I noticed that some of the stuff he was eating had a lot of bugs on it and have noticed the same in the past with other horses, if it moves slow it gets eaten. So here it is... could u more safely up your horses protein intake with a hand full of bugs than with a bucket full of grains. I know this is very outside the box for most peoples thinking but next time you are out with your horse in the pasture pay attention to the amount of bugs in the grass....anything from ants to beetles get eaten, if it moves slow it gets consumed, they will spit out some caterpillars, but most bugs don't seem to bother them. Could you add starting out small with some freeze dried meal worms? Again I know it sounds strange but lets face it there is still alot we don't get right or don't know when it comes to a balanced diet for our horses and still alot of us do not have horses as healthy as wild ones. So let me have it, any input on such a strange topic is good.

I would imagine the problem with feeding mealworms would be what the mealworms were fed. The bugs they eat in the field are 'free range' whereas domestically raised bugs are fed stuff that fattens them up and grows them fast in order to get them out into the marketplace.
