Okay...had a tough time breeding Sycha last year. Bred her to Hawk first in May. She only bred a few times then decided she had enough. She came back into heat and when I tried to breed her back to Hawk - she was flat mad about it and would not let him near her. A few days later, she was backing up to Charro and really teasing him. I bred them in hand and she let him a couple times, then got mad again. I took her and had her ultrasounded and cultured. We also did internal palpations with the osteopath. Not pregnant and no issues. This time when I tried to breed her back, she was really ticked off. We got it worked out, had her ultra sounded at 21 days - negative. I have not paid much attention to her this winter but after looking at pics from yesterday, then looking at her harder - I don't know. Any guesses?? From yesterday: From this afternoon:

Didn't she do the same thing a couple of years ago, you thought she was pregnant and she looked it but no baby. I can not remember if it was her or another mare. I wonder if her getting mad is pain coming from her hips or maybe back that acts up when you breed her due to the stallions extra weight. Her belly looks full...I hope she is!

The first time we ultrasounded Calista (about the same time frame we check TB mares), the vet didn't see anything. Then Calista didn't come in heat and we checked her again and there was a little popcorn !

Michelle, yes, she was bred in '08 - confirmed in foal. Then by November I noticed she did not look bred anymore. So, kind of the other way around. I looked at those pictures and she looks kind of similar, except she was fat and her hips were very round, so hence the belly. Even Eric says it looks like she is carrying something, instead of a belly. Would be a nice surprise but I'm not counting on it. The two other Nevada mustangs out there, who are little fatties, don't even look close to as round as her.

Nope...no baby! Fine with me though. I want to AI her this year and don't want to haul a mare and foal back and forth to the vet.

Not sure who she'll be coupled with. I have a Luso to breed to with Morgan and a Charro daughter (have not decided who yet...) but Sycha tends to have hot, sensitive foals and this guy is hot already, so not a good match for her! If I could guarantee a filly I could hold back, then I probably would!
