You saw pictures of Rio in the Breed Standard album taken when he was three and now he is five. This is a Chinook and Calista baby that we sold at six months and and he was super hard to part with. We went down to see him in training. He had had a month of training a year at two, three and four. He'd been in training a week and this was his second ride for 2008. You can see how brown he gets in winter, but will shed out the same as his three year old pictures. The link is to a photo album of pictures in reverse order of how they were taken. He was wet because the trainer wet him down to keep him cool while working. s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff28/canyoncreekkigers/Rio%20Canyon/?albumview=slideshow

Unfortunately, his owner is doesn't do much with him, although they love him. A couple of trail rides is all. They tried to breed their mare but there was something wrong with her and she can't come into heat. They are thinking of gelding him. I'm scratching my head wondering where I'd put another stallion. He sure is nice.

Wow....I'd sure love him in the hands of someone with a great breeding program that's gonna show him off....What about you and Gin doing something with him? And speaking of Gin, how's she doing? Angela

Me too. He deserves it. I really think he could be one of the top foundation stallions in the breed. His dam, Calista, is out of Michelle's Geronimo and Misty. Misty is the dam of Kiger Flashpoint and Gin's Sylvie. Great horses all. Gin has Santana, Smoke and Cedar going under saddle and they are all doing well. Cedar's expecting in late May so she's just getting walk, trot until she gets her balance solid with the belly and a rider. Santana's going to be an english horse, or maybe dressage - huge strides and powerful. Smoke is enjoying the trails and got to go through some snow. He's getting tuned up and some conditioning. We're getting a lot of interest in them. I'll post pictures when I get some.

He sure is gorgeous. I saw a pic of Geronimo in a Mustang group I'm in on Yahoo, and I thought he was one of the most gorgeous horses I'd ever seen. Rio sure looks to me like he has tons of potential. It would be a pity to geld him.
