I'm having a hard time picking between these two guys. I can get one or the other now that my dad has decided he "wouldn't mind" having one of the weanlings from Palomino Valley (#4237) lol.
I know you guys have a more developed critical eye than I do so I would like it if some of you could take a look at the two of them and give me your opinions: conformation wise, disposition if you remember seeing them at the live adoption.
They will be used for trails and maybe working cows a little. Either one will be gelded as I don't need a stud.
I am favoring 1239 mainly because of his young age and his height. I like the way he is built and I like his eyes.
I like 1242 for his stout build. He has a big hip and strong looking legs. He also has a good eye.
I cant really find faults in either of them. Both are big enough for my 240lbs, but I know 1239 has some growing left to do.
Anyways enough of the wall of text. What is you all's opinions?

Personally, I'd pick the older boy for cow work. Either one would make a fine riding gelding though. Good luck - the countdown starts soon...!!

Thanks for the reply Michelle. I believe I am gonna try for 1239 and get the little black filly for my dad. He'll turn 80 about a month after I pick them up, so it will be a nice b-day present for him. Staying busy keeps him young so this should help.

I think I like 1242 better. 1239 has a longer back and smaller hingquarters.

I also like 1242 better. 1239 doesn't have a nice conformation style shot but he seems a lot straighter behind thatn 1242. And while I'm sure 1239 still has some filling out to do his hip is a bit on the small side. Pair that with the long back and I'd go for the older guy hands down. But I don't really know what's better in a cow horse, just thinking about what I would like to see in a jumper.

I think 1242 is better put together then 1239. Maybe call the corrals and ask about their temperaments....I bet that insight might help!

Thanks for the response everyone. Someone from CO made up my mind for me this morning. I went to the highest bid I felt comfortable with on 1239. So now I am the high bidder on 1242!! We'll see how long that lasts.
