Some random pictures of Keno, who is keeping busy while I'm away. He and the young lady who is riding him are having a blast. I think she has most definately fallen in love. I've heard rumors that her parents are thinking about an equine purchase in the future, (which is still a secret from the young lady, shhhhhhh.) Keno's not really "for sale", but to this family I would consider it. The two of them just fit like peas in a pod. Here he is overjumping the super scary log on the ground. Relaxing in the pond out at the ranch More cross country jumps He's just plain cute in this one

Keno's a superstar as a hunter. He has the steady pace down and he makes the course looks effortless and fun. But he's not fire and forget, every once in awhile those fight or flight instincts come out and he's convinced the flowers are going to eat him. He's taught the young lady a thing or two about riding to the base of the fence and not taking lift off for granted. (and by taught I mean put her in the dirt.)

I'm still here for 4 more months or so. So late Feb early March of 2012.
Just found out that Keno's going to be attending a 4 day jumping clinic with Greg Best at the end of the month. He'll probably end up doing the jumper show too, even though he's never really worked on speed over a course.
One thing I love about Hawaii is despite the fact that the horse community is relatively tiny we still have no problem attracting high quality judges and clinicians. Something about a paid vacation to a tropical island paradise seems to do the trick.

Hawaii is great, but the isolation can be a pain. Horse shopping is a challenge. I'm really lucky Kevin and Lisa took a chance on a stranger they met online and put up with all the hassle involved with getting a horse to Hawaii. If it does turn out that Keno ends up being this young lady's horse, I'm hoping they'd be up to helping me find another Kiger.
