I like 4717 too, I'm glad to see the older guys going out. Wish they'd pick some lighter shades like 1240 too, the herd as a whole is becoming rather dark.

If they are still on the internet , they will be available for adoption in October. The selections are made for the stallions to be released, and they are no longer on here.

Thanks Bill. While I appreciate you sharing, your obvious "first hand " knowledge is proof positive of the flaws in the Wild Horse and Burro program. Since this is government funded, the entire public should be privy to information on a timely basis, not a select few who call or contact. Updating websites should be a priority. After all, that program puts the information up on the web. How else can new people hope to get involved??? It seems that the Adopt a Horse program is taking the same stance as many - You can be whatever you want to be on the internet. Not beneficial at all!

do you know what the other 3 numbers are? I still don't see 3 more studs pictures removed other. Two studs pics have come down, but the note stating 5 are to be released is still up....once all 5 pictures have been removed from the page I would think the note would also come down. Maybe the remaining 3 were never listed...pics posted?

Karen.
Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed? The tone of your message does not seem to imply that you appreciate the information at all. I have no more information nor access to information than anyone else. And I personally don't have alot of problems with the BLM nor how they conduct their work. They have a very difficult job to do with very limited funds.

Bill, I believe what Karen is asking is; where or how did you obtain the information that the 5 stallions have been chosen and released? The BLM website does not reflect what your saying. It seems for the program to work and so that people do not feel important information is being held back and only mentioned to a "select" few, that updates should be posted prior to or at least at the same time that the "select" are getting their information.

"Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed?"
Actually, no Bill. Just the way your message reads to me. And yes, I do appreciate correct information. Hence the thanks.
Kara nicely clarified any confusion my post may have left to misinterputation. Thanks, Kara.

Kara,
First of all, there is no " select few " and legally can not be. It is very simple to me. BLM employees, like any government employees work for you. It is their job to serve your needs. That is why they have a job. If you have a question, you can ask them. If they have an answer, they should tell you, but they can not and should not tell you something that they won't divulge to anyone that asks them. I had a need to know if the five stallions had been selected to be released, so I asked them, and they told me they had.
You ask why that is not reflected on the horses being shown on the internet. Kara, we all knew on day one they had gathered 200 Kigers, but I don't think they ever have shown more than @ 125 horses on the internet. So it was obvious they had another 70-80 horses in the corrals that they were not showing. Usually, they don't show those 70-80 because they probably will likely send most of them back to the HMAs, so why show them?
This is no different than when the BLM announced that they would send adopted Kigers East for the Eastern adopters. We had a string on here for a few weeks wherein many folks were discussing arrangements to get their horses back East. It appeared to me that if half of those folks actually adopted a horse at Burns, plus the ones me and my group intend to get, that should justify the BLM sending a truck load East. It also meant, to the BLM, that the horses would bring a higher price - every one adopted by someone in the East, obviously would bring more dollars that if someone out West had adopted them. If not, they would have stayed in the West.
So, I simply asked them if they would do it, and after some discussion, they agreed it would be to everyones' advantage to do it. We will get ours from Mississippi, and that saved me personally over 2500 miles and more than enough money to justify bidding a little more on the ones we hope to adopt.
No mystery, no select few. Just having a need and asking for help to resolve it. It works.
Bill

I am thankful that the BLM is willing to work with the adopters in the East. The more that the "good news" about the Kiger Mustangs is spread to other lands, the brighter the future will be for the breed. Thanks for all that you do for the Kigers, Bill.

The popularity of the Kigers is spreading further than just the states. People from several foreign countries are pursuing them now. I hope they can acquire some good quality breeding stock. Share the wealth and the beauty!
