As some of you know, our very own Diva, competed successfully at the Equine Affaire in the Versatility Competition, placing 2nd for her first big show! I just received news that she will be competing at the QH Congress in Reining: www.oqha.com/congress/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=41I'm not exactly sure how she qualifies (as she is Lusitano and Kiger!) but I think it is an open competition. I am looking forward to finding out how her training is going. Will keep everyone posted...

Thats so great, congrats Mrs.Michelle! Is this for next year? My horse judging team actually just finished judging congress but i don't know if its still going on or not. Diva will be a great representive for the Iberian Saddle Horse!

As to Michelle's not sure how Diva will compete at Congress; There is NRHA and AQHA reining at Congress. Diva would compete under NRHA. Good Luck to her. She will be a nice representative for Kiger crosses everywhere.
GrullaGirl: Not sure what congress your team might have judged, but Quarter Horse congress is always in October. Must have been some other breed congress show. Maybe Appaloosa....
BTW: Grulla Girl could you give me some information on the Iberian Saddle Horse registry? I'm not familiar with that one.

It will be interesting...Diva does so well at the Versatility contests - always first or second. I have not seen any reining stuff yet with Diva. The gal riding her is used to training stock horses for reining and the Iberian horses have to be trained differently for those turn-arounds in order for the hindend to stick. I give her lots of credit, that's for sure! She's got guts to take her into that arena and compete at that level!

Skybar i totally forgot that there was the NRHA competition at the congress. My team recently went to OK to judge a quarter horse competition recently and since they are also competing at congress i switched the two shows around. I don't really have any info on the Iberian Saddle Horse Registry that would be something to ask Mrs.Michelle. Hopefully Diva will be great at the show and won't get to stressed out by all the commotion going on. Why exactly do the iberians need different training on the turn around exactly?

Grulla Girl: Not sure how one can get confused over an affiliate show that is usually no more than four days and a national type show that is nearly a month long, which is why I thought maybe your team had judged another breed show. Oh well. I figured since you brought the Iberian Saddle horse up you could expand more on it. I guess I need to ask Michelle.
Michelle, can you expand more on the Iberian Saddle Horse, I have not had much luck in googling the breed? I'm curious as to the standard they conform to and breed history and such.
Thanks! Kara

Diva is being nominated for IALHA Half Lusitano of the Year. Here is what her trainers say about her and some picts of her and her trainer/rider, Casey...Go Diva!! "Diva is a stand-out individual because of her work ethic. She is a team player and is the first to say “Put me in, coach!” She retains every lesson exceptionally well, as a result, we can progress at a much quicker rate than most. She has been able to make tremendous strides in advanced dressage & reining maneuvers. I have been able to hone my own horsemanship skills in order to bring out her best. I look forward to every ride because she is so willing to please, I know we can touch on something new each time." Thanks, KC/ Reining Trainer "I've had the pleasure, recently, to work with Diva Alessia and her trainer, Casey Pierce. Diva is a unique combination of Kiger Mustang and Lusitano. She is a unique looking and lovely moving horse with three good quality gaits. In the sport of Dressage, successful horses not only have good gaits, but must also have the mind and physical ability to do the job. In the short time I've worked with Casey and Diva, I've seen an incredible aptitude to learn new movements as well as an improvement in her already great way of going . It is not often that you come across a horse that has all of the strengths and talents combined into one package. Without a doubt, Diva will go far and be quite successful while doing so." Lauren M Tisdale / Classical Dressage Trainer
