Michelle,
do you decide what names before hand like if it is a filly it will be this or do they tend to come into their own name. Cause when my first foal (filly) is born between Riddle and Stormy I want to name it something on the line of Riddles Stormy lil dotty, dotty after my mom she so much wanted to be a part of this breed when she learned we were getting a Kiger, but we lost her 2 months after we got Stormy.

I have a notebook of names I keep that I usually use and continue to add to. Most foals earn thier own names in the first few days, others are sort of planned. Tasas' name, Viva la Raza (long live the race), was chosen because she was my first cross between the Kiger and Riddle herd. I have a name picked out for a colt if Leza or Sage has one. I am hoping for a breeding quality stallion (half Lusitano), with those specific bloodlines for my linebreeding progam. The problem is, Hipo does not usually have colts. I belive that in all the years JP has had him, he only has 2 or 3 colts. Leza is HUGE, but who knows!
Chillis' colt still does not have a name!
We may have a change of plans with Picasa or actually, she may change our plans for us! We originally bred her to Charro last May. She showed heat again in three weeks, so since Charro was covering other mares, we decided to go with Desi this time. Well, as of yesterday, Ms. Picasa is way bagged up and seems to be shaping up to foal....this most likely means it will be a Charro foal (if Desi, she is due May 24th, and there is NO WAY she is waiting that long at this point!). We will know if it is black based, but if it is red based we will have to dna test!
This also means she is a little hussy! Barefoot, pregnant and still messen' around!

Cute, cute, cute and a redhead as well! I think this high energy comes from Charro don't you? Calista and her foals have it as well. We often have a mini-heat at the next cycle after breeding. Seems like the hormones haven't kicked in all the way. But the mares will not usually stand for the stallion so yes, she is quite the hussy!

Took these picts of Dory the other day...when I do through them, almost half are her up in the air one way or another! She really is something else and has Desis' same little attitude. The other day she was not following Momma into the stall, so I gave her a little push on the rear and she put her head down, shaking it back and forth and stomped her foot. She is not the most feminine filly I have ever seen - she sure is a tank! |

What a hot lil filly! I love the name too, but I'd nickname her Lucy, cause I think with that personality and red hair she is gonna have some "Splainning to do". After all, her daddy's name is Desi.
