from the BLM newsletter...
BLM OFFERS [FREE] ORGANIZED HAULING EASTWARD FOR KIGER ADOPTION
The BLM is offering to ship a load of adopted Kiger/Riddle mustangs east, following the October 8, 2011 Kiger Kraze adoption event in Hines, Oregon. Horses will be transported to three locations: Elm Creek, Nebraska; Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and Piney Woods, Mississippi. Adopters participating in the free-hauling opportunity must pick their horses up at 1 of these locations – these are the ONLY pick-up locations available for this offer. No other special arrangements will be made for hauling/drop-off/etc.
Mares with foals on their side will not be shipped. In their journey east, horses will be unloaded and loaded several times to allow for adequate rest, feed and water. Adopters will be responsible for any injury or vet care during and after shipment. Adopters are expected to pick up their horses after being notified by the receiving facilities. Facilities will set up an appointment with the adopters.
PLEASE CONTACT THE BURNS DISTRICT OFFICE (respond to this email) IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS HAULING OPPORTUNITY. LET ME KNOW YOUR NAME, THE NUMBER OF HORSES YOU EXPECT TO ADOPT, and WHERE YOU PLAN TO PICK THEM UP AT (and don’t forget to get your adoption application in so you can actually be a qualified bidder/adopter!).

Michelle,
I told you it was good news. Piney Woods is 740 miles from here. But that sure beats the 2100 miles to Burns.

You're not kidding! Pauls Valley is only 300 miles from us. I just may have to bring home that old stallion too - then go directly into therapy to have my head examined; probably twice.
That is so great and opens a lot more opportunity for new adopters and more Kigers getting homes.
