Fantasy and I went along with a friend to the Endurance 101, located in the Ochoco Forest at the Bandit Springs endurance ride. It was a brief lesson and mini' endurance to educate you the endurance ride/race experience. To meet and greet everyone involved with PNER.
It was great fun I learned alot as to what is expected. What I need to work on with Fantasy at vet checks. She was not fond of having her gums poked. She recieved all A's on her pre-vet check except for motivation. Fantasy is no hot to trot Arab, the vet said no worries Fantasy was great, but that is the model they have to judge all horses by. I just recall I did alot of work training Fantasy to be calm and relaxed at the end of that lead line when trotting beside me..I will take that B or A- in motivation proudly. She recieved A's once again at post vet check...other then motivation and behavior A- for objecting to the gum poke. We did not race the ride just took our time and mostly walking a bit of trotting. It was a short ride later after returning from the mini' ride. My friend and I took to the trail again on our own, as the horses were familiar with it, at a faster pace. Fantasy is not so sure about horses trotting up fast from behind, so I will have to do some leap frog practice out on the trail here at home. All in all it was a success, I enjoyed my time out there it reminded me how much fun I have with horses out and abotu I just want to do it more ....horse camping has been pushed up on my list of things to do soon.
here are a few pics'
The rider up ahead is another Kiger Mustang rider ..she is riding a grulla mare named Bonita, they will be at Wild Trails Expo' also
note: I was asked a few times if I was riding an Andalusian or what my horse was? I was happy to tell them about my gray Kiger Mustang a rare sight to many. She got lots of compliments, I never tired of saying Thank you and I was very proud of her behavoir amidst running childern, dogs and other horses. Not to mention trucks, trailers and utility vehicles.
