They are beautiful and it must be so fun to watch and they do like to play hard..I know my mule does, I can only imagine if I had a pair like you do with the Zonkeys. Endless entertainment ;D

They play like this for hours everyday! We were over there and they started in their antics, and my hubby got the pics. Until Lisa got the second zonkey, neither had been with another zonkey since they were babies. It took them a few days to realize that they could communicate and act like zonkeys. You know how Kigers go on alert much more than domestics do, well the Zonkeys may be more vigilent. When they think something is amiss, the zonkeys and Lisa's Kiger will all go on full alert, and if it persists, the three of them take turns standing guard while the others eat.
Note that this a mare and a gelding, not two geldings.

It is amazing to see a mare playing so aggressively. The majority of my mares and fillys for that matter do not play. There is one exception and that is my BLM Mustang Salsa and our Arab gelding those two actually will play every day in the afternoon, not as aggressivly as the Zonkeys. Still it cracks me up to them picking on each other and chasing each other about.

Yeah, it is the mare that is the more agressive in these pics, and I think that is pretty typical of this pair. Annabelle played with the mini like this until Zeke arrived. The mini loved to egg on the big horses, anyhow. Zeke is actually a docile kind of guy. Annabelle is more an alpha type mare, but she doesn't mess with Miley, the Kiger mare or Lisa's really old mare before she died.
