He carrys everything I will let him. He wants to have a 'job' to do too. He walked up to a fellow a while back and took his cowboy hat. The guy was yelling at him to bring it back and I told the fellow that Hondo was looking to do a job and would take it to wherever he wanted it. The fellow didn't believe me so said he wanted it taken to his truck. I called Hondo and told him to put it in the truck. He went to the truck and dropped it in the front seat. The fellow was pretty impressed and likes Hondo bunches now, in fact, he and many others use Hondo to carry their lead ropes and halters and buckets back and forth. Hondo loves it and loves being at the ranch.

I think Hondo needs to train some other dogs (Um, like the one laying down by me now) how to do such useful things! Has Hondo ever led a horse??? Almost seems like a natural progression with carrying lead ropes and such....not that I'd encourage any such crazy behavior (VBG!)

yes he has tried that, though the horse wasn't so sure of the whole game. I will get some more video of him doing things. He knows over forty commands, but the stuff he does at the ranch he has pretty much figured out himself. He wanted jobs to do so when he saw things being carried, he decided that was something he could do.

Hondo is so great. Talent sure runs in this family!
My mini donkey tries so hard to help me push my wheel barrow that I have been looking for a child's shopping cart or the like for him to push. I must give him a job besides making me smile, and giving me hugs by laying his head on my chest. Hope that we will be seeing more of Hondo!We can all use a few extra smiles.
