If anyone in the WA area (western side of the state) is in need of a nurse mare my sister just lost her 3 week old foal and has put the word out that she would offer her mare as a nurse mare. Pilchuck is also aware and will get the word out if/as needed. You can PM me here and I can pass it along.
This was the mares 2nd foal and she is a great mama. Was heartbreaking to see her with the foal after it had to be put down =(...
Freak accident...hate them!!!

Think she's placed...the brother of one of the mgrs at a restaurant they go to all the time raises Friesian and I think Andalusian...do a lot of showing and parades and stuff. They lost a mare and need a nurse mare for a 2 day old foal...they will pick up my sisters mare tomorrow and hopefully she will take the baby. Keep fingers crossed.

They picked her up and so far Steph hasn't heard anything if Lallee accepted the foal or not. Keeping fingers crossed still.

I hope everything is all right. It's never fun to deal with a situation like. I am glad your sister is willing to have her be used as a nurse mare. I know some mares get so depressed after losing a baby. Crossing my fingers....

Well they picked her up and the guy figured he'd just be milking her and bottle feeding but when Lallee walked in the barn she immediately started talking to the baby so he took her in the stall...a couple sniffs and baby was latched on...Lallee totally accepted it no fuss no muss and is being a great adopted mom!
