Just heard from Joan and Diva tied for first place! In the work off round, she missed by two steps and got second. The winner was a mule that has been competing forever in these competitions. Very excited for the possibilities for Diva in the future! Joan and her trainer, Casey, have done a wonderful job. Waiting on picts and a video from the work off.

Not too shabby! Congrats to Casey & Diva and Joan. It's nice to see good horsemanship, not to mention a beautiful horse, being rewarded. Looking forward to the video.

n Friday, April 8th, the Kiger Kids performed their demo at Equine Affaire in Columbus, Ohio. They did so at the request of the BLM to represent the mustangs. Four (4) Kiger Mustangs were presented by four (4) great young kids. Cisco is owned and ridden by 14 year old Houston Buflod. Cisco’s dam was gathered from the Kiger HMA in 2003 and Cisco was born in captivity soon after the adoption out of Brian Pfeiffers’ Kiger Chica mare. Houston is an extremely capable and gifted young horseman. Elly is ridden by 14 year old McKenzie Noel. Elly was captured from the Kiger HMA in November of 2003 and adopted by Bill Smith. Reed ( Riddle Rendition ) was gathered from the Riddle HMA in 2003 and was adopted and trained by Melissa Scott in Tennessee. She is being ridden by 16 year old Morgan Ivey. Kiger Sombra was gathered from the Riddle HMA in 1999 and was adopted and trained by Melissa Scott. He is being ridden by 6 year old McKenna Ivey. Obviously, Sombra, Reed, and Melissa need no introduction. Melissa and Sombra are recognized as the most accomplished pair in the Kiger world. Today, horse people in the East know what a Kiger Mistang is, and that is because of Melissa and Sombra. They are truly the Kiger Mustang ambassadors in the Eastern part of the US. Helge Buflod, a well known natural trainer here in the Midwest, is on the microphone and was instrumental in preparing for this demo. Helge and the entire Ivey family should be very proud of what they accomplished. They performed in front of a very large, appreciative crowd, have already been invited back by the BLM and Equine Affaire for next year, and in fact have been requested to be in several other demos at the 2012 Equine Affaire. Anyway, not a perfect video or demo, but a great start and a wonderful way to promote the Kigers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xir_UCYIxVE

Bill, You have a right to be proud of the kids and their horses. They did a fine job, and will carry on as ambassadors for the Kigers. Will be looking forward to more from them.
