I was watching my kiger mare with her new pasture buddies yesterday. She was very much an instigator with her previous group, and this group won't allow her to push them around or let her get them riled up. She was standing at the fence after trying several times to get a rise out of the gelding just tossing her head back and forth. She did this for some time. I wasn't sure if it was a breed characteristic or just her. Any ideas?

Its usually a way of saying "I'm bad, I'm really bad", kind of a challenge and statement rolled together. Sounds like she wanted to be an instigator and wasn't getting much reaction.

That is funny. As none of the horses with her or next to her even batted an eye at her. She's the barn baby so it's good that she's not getting a reaction, no need to learn to be naughty

I've always seen that as more of an expression of frustration than an "I'm bad" gesture. I don't think it's a challenge at all. She may be real frustrated that no one in the herd is taking her seriously.
