Just randomly looked at kigers.com and noticed that RL updated his for sale page on the Kigers he has. Seems like they are all sired by Kigers Doc Martin and most are Steens Kiger lined horses. Wider range of colors with greys, a bay, lots of zebra duns, and a very flashy (stockings with what appears to be a possible blaze on his face) red dun colt! I realize that excessive amounts of white are not normally looked favorably in the Kigers, but I thought that he might make a flashy show horse (hard to see him though because he is a weanling and a total puff ball! lol). I am wondering if he has any of his stockings going up passed his knee or his hock or has any white going down to his lower lip as that would indicate that the sabino gene is in the Kiger! Would make an interesting addition along with the minimally marked pinto Kiger!

Wow - that's a lot of white for sure. I take it that is his momma; looks like she has a good blaze. Cute colt!
I've wondered if more white would show up with further captive breeding generations. There are quite a bit of reference to other feral or wild animals being bred in captivety and white showing up - such as the domestic bred foxes.
I am really begining to believe that the bay and dun gene can act funky with eachother...making a psuedo bay appearing animal.

Steens Kiger isn't being bred any longer. There are still some foals by Silverado but Doc Martin has been being used a lot over the last six years.

Yea... I heard that Steens was kicked in his manhood when he was trying to breed a mare and now is no longer interested in breeding. Poor guy! Well, at least he sired more than enough foals to continue his bloodline.

I can see that science with true wild animals, but I am not so sure on feral horses. After all, horses from the South Steens come in pinto and who really knows what breeds escaped or were released that have made up the Mustangs in South East Oregon.
