I thought this would be a fun winter project for us here on the board. Posting pictures of Kigers or other horses and discussing
1) if they are a Kiger
2) what charactoristics point you to beliving they are or they are not based on typical breed standards
3) if they are a Kiger, do you know who it is and maybe share any information about them you may know

Great idea Mrs.Michelle! I'll have to see if i can figure out how to post photos from photobucket so i can put some of the horse pictures i have. Oh and my guess for this one is that it is not a kiger or at least not a full one. This horse reminds me a lot of the pony breeds with his head and all. So i'm guessing Colonial Spanish Mustang, maybe..?

what fun..I say yes Kiger. The color is your typical claybank, soon to be gray. The head is typical of some lines that have that large jowl teacup nose. The big doe eye is very Kiger, as well as heavy in the front thick neck with large shoulder, then short back and low set tail.

I thought it might be one of Rick's horses.

To post from Photobucket I believe you want to use the IMG code. I click on that link under the picture I want and it will say copied. Just paste that into your posting here and you should have it. I give this a definite maybe. I see Kiger characteristics, including some leg bars and the horse loks the same color as Claybanks I have seen at Ricks. I wish it was standing and not moving with that hip in motion. Okay, I vote at least part Kiger or it is of some other Spanish influence maybe cousin to Kigers. Steens has a head somewhat like this one. this is not one of Dianne Pinneys horses is it? I will watch for the answer

Very small. Think of when people say teacup Poodle. Just a very small Poodle. Same goes for the nose.

Mare , gelding or stallion ? To me it looks like a mare , very lightcoloured dun (legmarkings) . My guess is a Spanish Mustang , to me it doesn't look like a very typical Kiger (if it's a Kiger) . This horse doesn't look very Baroque .

Now that i have taken a closer look at the mare in the picture she is really starting to remind me of a caspian or welsh cross. She definately is a lovely mare though, no matter what breed she is.

Hmm, I'm guessing here, is it Feather? She was a daughter of Teacup that I bought and gave back to Rick. The teacup is from having a nose small enough to drink out of a teacup, not the size of the horse. She has to be out of Silverado, that headset and profile are SK line I think.

Great fun...!! It is Silverado, Kiger stallion from the SK line.
I would have guessed pony cross also. However, I have seen some of the Kigers go through a cobby look while they are matureing, then their head grows out and elongates more. When JP was out evaluating my herd, he thought Desi looked cobby in the face; then he saw him two years later, did not recognize him and asked why had I gelded such a nice iberian looking horse? Funny.
