Well this past week has been busy busy. I got on Bella for the first time Wed evening and I was soooo unbelievably happy with her. She's had the saddle on her since spring, so that was no big deal, even the first time she had it on - she didnt care about it. So I hopped on wed and she walked right off like she'd been doing it forever. Took her a minute for her to adjust herself with the extra weight on her back but she was so relaxed and didnt get scared at all and luckily I've taught her to move when I ground work her by clucking to her and that's all I had to do when I was on her was cluck and she knew to walk off. She'll be going to the trainer's any day now and I wanted to be the first one to ride her....I can't wait to ride her again this week. I wanted to this past weekend but was so busy and I always like to make sure I'm not rushed or my mind is not anywhere else when I do that because I want to be focused. Amazing what these horses will do for you. Here are a few pics... Prior to getting on completely Lots of rubbing and good girls.. More rubbing before we walked off... And we're off.... at the end...see that big smile on my face... I also had a performance with my drill team saturday morning..here is a pic prior to going in. And on another note..I had the opportunity to go on set Friday evening. I have a friend who works in the movie industry, they are filming a movie here abou 20 minutes from my home - has jennifer anniston in it, so I was able to spend all day on set watching how its all done. It was amazing...i was 2 ft from jennifer anniston and all the other stars!!! Heres the old house they are filming it in and around. The house was built in the 1850's. I got to walk thru it and was amazed to see the insides...The movie is called wanderlust..

Thanks everyone! I'm very pleased with Bella, you can see how relaxed she is in the photo's with me on her. The whole session only lasted about 30 minutes, kept it short and sweet since she did so well. I can't say enough about her and how well she's handled everything I've taught her. I'm hauling her to my drill team practices where she gets tied to watch all the workings as well. It was so awesome to be on her, it felt so natural and like me and her both had been doing it for years - I was completely relaxed on her and forgot it was her first ride. Next year we'll start our adventures together!!

Well me and Bella had our 1st trail ride yesterday together where I rode her. We rode for 7 hours in the mountains, had not planned on riding that long but we ended up trying a path we thought we knew and had to turn around and go back, so it threw about 2 more hours in our ride, but Bella handled it with the wonderful kiger attitude and gladly kept going for me. In fact, I think she loved seeing all those new places! She did amazing yesterday and I am sooooo very proud of her. She led most of the way and loved it which is rare for young horses that Ive seen, must be the "take charge mare" thing, she only stopped and looked a 2 things on the trail, one being a herd of wild hogs - where I felt her heart beating like crazy, but she never took off and got over it real quick, in fact she saw them before anyone did, and I didnt see or hear anything so I kicked her on and she took about 3 more steps and stopped again, thats when we saw them, so she was still willing to go but was trying to tell me something was there and the 2nd being some black felt fencing to which she gladly went up to test taste it!! I guess as long as she can taste it, she's fine!! ha She's in this lick everything mode...! But anyway - even after riding 7 hours, to my HUGE SURPRISE I was not sore one bit, she's got a stretched out walk which is smooth and covers some ground, where Lakota's is more short and choppy and much more rough and after about 4 hours on her, Im pretty sore.
SO proud mom here after 3 years of raising this gal, I finally get to start our adventure together and it looks to be pretty awesome! Taking her to a cowboy challenge event this saturday I think, not sure if I will ride her in it yet or not, will wait and see when we get there! She's not really ready for that yet as we still have some arena work to do to help her soften up more but will see!

Oh and forgot to add that I took my dog with me and my friend I rode with took her dog as well for de-spooking tools, of course my dog is great at de-spooking cause he runs all over the place, in/out of trails, wide open up beside you etc...she never skipped a beat. Of course she's also used to him running up under her at the barn and everywhere else...! Its a great thing that my horses love my dog, cause he literally runs under there bellies all the time and they stand quietly and even sometimes go out of there way to keep from stepping on him! He'll dead stop on the trail in front of them and they'll have to walk around!!! Such good horsies...!

Here's a few pics! Bella was kind enough to carry my dog Charlie the last hour cause he was slap wore out!!! None of my tack quiet fits Bella right cause she's so narrow where Lakota is much more broad! She'll fill out more, especially climbing our mountains!

Funny you mention that Dianne cause one point we were searching for a trail and I had to go off in the woods searching and she went without question, she went where I pointed her head without sulking....I love that!!
A bouguet of carrots, WOW, she'd think she was truly special then, would surely feel like a little princess then!! ha
