Anyone bidding on any of the Calico horses? Its an internet adoption and there are a lot of bidders. There is one with no bid that is really nice, #1099. www.blm.gov/adoptahorse/I thought that after 16 or so you couldn't tell a horse's age by their teeth. So how can they know some of the sale authority horses are 20 or so? Any horse over 10 years old or any mustang that has been offered at an adoption event three times can be sold and not adopted. Often for as little as $25. On the internet adoption they start at $125. I'm glad to see the older palomino paint stallion (he's the poster horse) and the wild colored paint stallion have bids. I wish all of them happy and safe homes.

Some nice looking horses...hope the old guys don't end up in holding facilities until the end of thier days. I know alot of folks are trying to preserve the curlies, so hopefully they all get good homes too.

I REALLY like that curly mare #0061 but alas I am still just a poor farmer, I am happy to see she is being bid on and that she will find a lovely home. I do have friends that have thier fingers crossed, that they do not get out bid last min. on #1753 the red roan gelding and they have aready named him Kola' ;D He will be going straight from the pen to a mustang trainer then delivered to them, after he has been halter trained. gallery link: www.blm.gov/adoptahorse/onlinegallery.php

My friends put a secondary bid on number #1046..They want to be sure they get Mustang from this internet adoption. I was just window shopping when I noticed #0860 labeled as a buckskin yearling, this filly will one day be gray. Already her face is very white.

Yeah, they're not too good on color. But the horses are really nice.

Yeah! Glad they got her. I counted only about 10 horses that didn't get adopted, and all the sale authority over 10 year horses were bought, hopefully to good homes! I still wonder where all the five to ten year olds went.

The 'Advocates' adopted all the sale authority horses...or so it was said on FB. Folks like Teri Farley all pitched in and bought them and are sending them to (I believe) Return to Freedom to live out their days.

You know...the BLM may get smart and start listing 25-30 SA horses on all their internet adoptions if the 'advocates' keep purchasing them!

to reply to a question farther up, sometimes the older horses were originally branded as youngsters, and turned back out. I have a mare, adopted at 12, and it was her third time being gathered. She was freezebranded at 2, whent they were probably pretty accurate on her age. Sometimes you can see photographs of wild horses where you will see one out there with a brand.

fantasykiger, I own #0860 and she's not going to grey out at all. She's a buckskin through and through. I had her color tested and there's no grey. She's not that light anymore. She's actually golden with paint markings. She's got barrel spots, 2 white socks, and a blaze. I do agree 100% that the BLM is terrible with coloring terms...Saw a blue roan labled as black and a cremello labled as white... And I know this is like 1000 years old...I just had to say though I found this forum by searching my mustang's freeze in google. Kinda cool! I'm very interested in everything that people are saying about kigers!
