Hi all, I hope you all don't mind me posting this here. Hope I am not offending anyone! I wanted to know if there was any interest in Mestene's Pueblo (SMR# 2373) as a breeding stallion? He is not for sale. He is by Sulphur's Chance x Mestene (The Blue Stallion x Sulphur's Molly). He is a purebred Spanish Sulphur stallion. Sulphur/Kiger offspring would likely be HOA and ABRA eligible. I am sure most would not be interested, but if there is anyone that would be, I figured I would post this here to find out. My trainer is interested in him for training, showing, training for AI, and booking breedings to him. However, she wants to know how many people would be interested in him as a breeding stallion before she goes through all that trouble. This is a HUGE compliment! My trainer is the kind of person who says if it isn't over 16HH and isn't a QH or a warmblood then it isn't a horse and is a waste of time! She is very experienced with stallions and was shocked at Pueblo's amazing temperament and just fell in love with him despite his 14.2HH size. If there is enough interest internationally and people put in the funds to get his semen approved for international transport then she would be willing to do that as well. Here is a video of Pueblo. Although you cannot see his movement as he was really over weight and nearly foundered (thankfully the owners had the vet come out and he is at a good weight right now and he didn't founder!). Gives you a good idea of what his temperament and conformation is like. To get an idea of his movement, watch the Sulphur's chance video. I am looking forward to a foal next year out of my purebred Spanish Sulphur mare by Pueblo! Should be a really exceptional foal with lots of brio, courage, type, movement, etc.
I wanted to add that Pueblo's heels are so long that his pasterns are standing practically upright despite the fact that he has a nice laid back shoulder (for those that don't know, the paster angle should match the angle of the shoulder on a good shoeing/trim). Due to this, Pueblo is unable to move out like he normally would be able to. On top of this, he was about 200 or so pounds over weight and in a small pen. So, I was unable to capture his true movement.
Thanks for taking a look and commenting on the Spanish type Sulphurs! Eventually I am hoping to have a large breeding herd of them to preserve the horse that the California vaquero's rode!

I love Maximus!!! Is that a herringbone pattern coming off his dorsal?
I can't wait to see what your foal looks like. I'm sure it will be stunning!

lol I am sure that his owner would not mind at all Maximus resides in Campo, CA (in San Diego county). I don't believe that he is trained for AI though. If you really would be interested, then I can put you in touch with Leza. I am fairly certain that I put her contact info on his video that I made for him, but I am not positive. So, if you need her contact info just let me know! I am sure that you would love the cross! I would imagine that you could register the foal in the HOA. I know you could register the foal in the Iberian Warmblood registry as they accept Spanish type Sulphurs as foundation parents (just like they do for the PRE, Sorraia, and PSL). So, you would have a registered foal from this cross as well! Would be pretty cool I think! From talking with the owner of Rouge, it sounds like she is more nervous to ride him because he is a stallion though she says his nature is very sweet. I got the impression that it had more to do with watching his great athletic ability combined with the psychological upsets due to the fact that he is a stallion. She is not in a rush to sell him and is still teetering on the subject. Though, I believe that she would not be opposed to someone that would offer the best situation for him. She would feel more comfortable riding him as a gelding because he likes to talk! She took him to a clinic when he was a 4 year old and he talked A LOT, so that made her nervous. However, being a young stallion at a clinic and him talking quite a bit is really not all that surprising. It sounds like he just needs someone that will let him know the rules and wont allow him to boss his owner around.

That's really cool that the foal could be registered with the Iberian Warmblood registry. I don't plan on breeding her for a couple years though. I'd like to finish her first, and hopefully get her straight up in the bridle. She's been out to pasture for about six months now as I'm expecting my own baby any day! But in a month or so we are going to get back on track. She's got a great mind and has turned into an excellent saddle horse, so I'd like a foal from her. I've been keeping an eye out for a stud, and I think a Sulphur cross would be great. I can't wait to see what you get from Victoria and Pueblo!!! Yeah, taking a young stallion to a clinic just doesn't even sound fun to me lol. But then I prefer mares, so I'm a little biased Hopefully someone will scoop him up and use him under saddle more.

Not sure if you know what Victoria looks like, but here is a video that my sister took of me and Victoria at a dressage clinic in May 2010: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TksgPmO0Is4

I bought her in Jan 2002. She lived in Los Angeles County near the beaches for the first 5 years then I leased her to a gal in Wyoming and she stayed there for about a year and a half then she came down to Colorado (I was in school which is why I leased her) and now she is living in Temecula which is about an hour and a half south east of Los Angeles. Before I got her she actually spent about 4 or so years in Utah (born there) and then she went up to Oregon and then down to California when I bought her. She is a traveling horse! LOL
