I would say a possible dun with a cream gene. She should have him color tested at UC Davis. It isn't that expensive and it will take a lot out of question out of the next few months. I would do the red factor, agouti, and cream and if the perlino has any parents that grayed i would also test for gray. There is also a dun test were you need a sample from both parents. I would be very interested to know what he turns out to be.

Looks to be a sooty buckskin. The light strip of line on his back is not defined and not complete so it is not an actual dorsal stripe. You can also see sooty markings on the face as well.

He obviously has the creme gene from the father...the eyes help give that away, but the father having two cremes means he definately has it. As far as dun, the sire would have to have passed that...and also actually be a perlino/dun. Dun w/creme would look like Angelsdreams' little guy as a foal - very light and then grow into his stripes.

I would be surprised if the colt was sooty...here are a few picts of Nitro. I thought he was a sooty buckskin too. He had a pretty distinct stripe when he was young: Two weeks old: An then this as a yearling, hardly sooty!

Thanks guys! WOW Michelle, that's a big difference in Nitro. Hard to tell when they are that young unless you absolutely know the color of both parents. Color is pretty interesting. So I'm guessing with him being that light already, then he will be very light once he sheds his foal coat? So here is Hollywood Dun It, would you say he is just dun or dun w/ perlino gene?

I'm thinking buckskin too, although I'd like to see that butt shot again now that he is fuffed out. Also if dad is a perlino dun he will have very faint pale markings. Wow, that was a surprise with Nitro. Looking good for sure.

Dunskin, he has a stripe down his tail and dark ear tips. I think he will be sooty as well. Unusual to see the muscling like the sire has, he could be used for teaching musculature.
