2 yo Bay Filly Beautiful has never looked awkward

I accidentally posted this in the wrong place (kiger's in need)

Her name is Fiona and she is a very sweet, very calm, 2 year old captive bred Kiger Mustang Filly. She loves people (especially kids because they give her lots of attention).

This is what she can do: Leads, Ties, Ponies very well, Loads, Trailers, bathes (even her face), Clean tits, play with butt (desensitization to AI breeding), Braid main, tail and forelock, Play with mouth to look at teeth, Stretches out legs, Gives legs to be placed where you want them, Backs when rope wiggles, stops when you stop, walks at your speed, lunges, Bridles, Saddles, Super easy to catch in a large pasture, Puts on own halter, Moves over with slight pressure, Picks up all feet on command (tap the leg), Touches nose to hand on command, Good for Farrier, Wary of vet but takes it with encouragement, Pasture and/or bale fed, Strong feet, Good with other horses, been exposed to cattle. She is registered and will mature at around 14.1-2 hh.

Has been started on moving off of leg pressure, ground driving, a stop from on top and behind, and on turns with leg pressure and Direct reining, We are currently still working on turning with leg pressure and direct reining as well as a stop. She will stop when bumped and given the verbal command "whoa". She is currently being ridden only in a halter but will be switched to a hackamore or bosal in the next few weeks if she is still with me as well as go to a trainer for a lesson to get her further along. Wish I had the space and the bucks to get her, I read the listing on CR here in CA. I'm north of you a bit in Acton, CA. You girl favors 2E a lot! Did you breed her?

I wish you did too, lol. She is a great little girl. As she is only 2 i have not bred her tough the though has crossed my mind if i still have her in the future. I did breed my other Kiger Mare to an andalusian. Fiona had been sold to a great family with other horses but the family hit some rough times and so I took her back so nothing bad would happen to her. Before i knew she was coming home i had sent my mare to be bred so now i am looking at having three horses here come next april and i am only allowed to have two ... oops. I am trying to find someone who will just love her and use her to her fullest. The family I married into is very much against any horse who is recently descended from a wild mustang but there is no way i will get rid of my big mare ... nononono, lol

After your in-laws are around Kigers for awhile, they'll come around. I'm in the middle of Cowboy Heaven up here and lots don't care for mustangs......until they see mine. Most think Mustang = bad temperament and hard to train because they do not know that these horses will give you 110% of anything you ask..if you ask in the proper way. You cannot force them do anything. They don't do well if they are Cowboyed and that is why a lot of people don't like them.

My mare has taught me how to be a better horse person. I use to cowboy all the time but once i got her she put the breaks on that real fast but i have learned so much and i am so happy i have. Dollie, my other mare, had a bout from last august to January where she had the worst attitude. She had become so herd dependent that she would hurt herself to get back to the other horses. She scared me pretty bad once or twice and then i took her to a trainer to help get her back on track. Within five minutes she was the sweet mare i fell in love with. It was my fault i left her with people for 6 months that didn't treat her well, as i later found out. to get her in a trailer she was unsure of they would pull and beat on her and scare her. They didn't work her well either and so she regressed to an almost wild state. and with that big thick neck there was no stopping her once her mind was made up, there still isn't. But it makes you sit back and think about how two different people and two different horses can view each other. any qtr horse out here would have jumped right in the trailer had it had no floor she is inquisitive and was trying to check it out and as disciplined for it. Luckily she doesn't hold a grudge to me and will do anything for me. The family just seems to think that the only good horse is a qtr horse or as they put it "a dead horse". They don't like a horse with a mind of its own and a personality. And i don't think I could survive with a horse that didn't have a personality or horsonality. Mules aren't stubborn they are smart same as mustangs. They don't want to go down the steep hill that way because they know it will hurt you or them they want to find a better way down and they are probably right. Not everyone has the brain power enough to be in the company of a mustang and i will let them stick with their qtr's

All of these pictures were taken of Fiona about 2-3 weeks ago. She is still pretty fuzzy but is losing her winter coat finally. The one picture of her actually in an arena is from December before she got her winter coat in January. The last three pictures I took yesterday and you can see her shedding out and rub marks. You can also see that she has a slightly sooty face, fawn coloring on her legs, and no real dorsal stripe. She has been attacked by flies and has rubbed on the cement water trough and cable fencing. As she doesn't get a lot of work she is a little on the pudgy side. She has been out in a large pasture for the past month, being worked and then returned to the pasture. She was just reunited with my mare. I had them separated for quarantine purposes as my mare was out in another area being bred for two months. She will start being ponied with a saddle and small weights again next week to get her back into shape. She will also be going to the trainer in a week or so to further her training, in case i missed something which my husband and mother doubt.
