This week has been pretty hectic at the ranch. It's pony club camp week so the place is filled with kids, riding, jumping, training, swimming and just plain screwing around. My trainer was giving one of her students a lesson on a fresh off the polo field TB she's been trying out. The mare couldn't handle all the excitement and kept leaping sideways. The girl sat through the mess well enough but it was obvious the lesson was a write off.
Now I know the girl fairly well, she's a nice quiet young rider, just starting to jump, very polite both on and of the horses so, on the spur of the moment, I offered to let her finish up her lesson on Keno. Keno had been a bit keyed up by the activity, but he wasn't leaping around like the mare and I figured the young lady could handle a bit of freshness.
We got her up and settled and she started hacking around. The attitude change in Keno floored me. It's like he knew she wasn't as experienced. He just poked around quiet as a mouse. No signs of the race car I had been sitting on a few minutes before, heck he even broke once in the canter.
The young lady thanked me about 27 times, and couldn't stop smiling. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy when someone else has such a nice ride on my boy. Makes me feel like I'm doing right by him.

That is SO COOL!!! His mother is babysitting a 9 year old through 4-H! And his Dad let's our granddaughter ride him. When she's on him I can't believe how slow Dino walks!

That is awesome! Its always kind of funny to see someone ride your horse, but then again, it gives you another vantage point to see how beautiful they are

Sarah's right and I'll bet you feel flattered that he doesn't treat YOU like an inexperienced rider. What a great horse.
